Adam Savage and Broken Nerd’s Costume Build, Part 2

With a good amount of progress made on the Monk costume, Adam and Darrell turn their attention to the Rogue–the other menacing member of the Knights of Ren! More patterning and sewing! Darrell also gets to a really fun part of the build–adding some damage weathering to his 3D-printed helmets!

  1. What if it’s not a tunic that wraps around? Maybe it’s a sash that only covers one shoulder?

  2. Great stuff again. Do have to notice that the variety in Adam’s techniques is a bit of a high contrast versus the sanding and pop-rivets of Darrell. 🙂 Just noticing, nothing wrong with it.

  3. Totally worth it for the pebble texture technique alone. Spray 77 for texture….Genius. Thanks for that one.

  4. Anyone else yell at the monitor when Adam drilled toward his hand for the pop-rivet demo? I did.

  5. Yep, but he does a lot of dangerous stuff in almost any video. I think he’s sufficiently confident in this kind of job. The patch on the hand tells it directly 🙂

    Great video series anyway!

  6. They may not have actually helped in this particular case, but they *do* make pop rivets specifically designed for thin, brittle materials that split and curl rather than expand when the mandrel pulls through.

  7. Adam your such an inspirational person your builds and projects are amazing me and my little boy love watching tested and mythbusters we would love to see a BioShock armour piece or your interpretation of it thanks for opening our eyes to your amazing talents

  8. Theres alsoc this paint called VHT Wrinkle Plus, which gives a nice texture also, and you only have to spray it on. Less effort and still looks nice.

  9. But then I thought: “That’s what I’m doing wrong, I don’t have a pool table in my shop.”

  10. I’m currently building a 3D printed Ghostbusters proton pack, and this series is teaching me a lot of useful techniques! Really enjoying it! Along with the Blade Runner 2049 binocular build from a few months ago, and the Bits to Atoms series, I’m inspired to be more ambitious with my 3D printed projects now 🙂
