Adam Savage’s One Day Builds: Lathe Chuck Rolling Rack!

As Adam is using his lathe more these days, he’s also upgrading it with new accessories like additional lathe collet chucks. And to store these massive steel parts, Adam makes a rolling rack stand that can hold all of his chucks for quick access and cleaning. It’s Adam’s first One Day Build using sheets of 1-inch plywood, and a construction that comes together with just tabs and slots!

  1. I love watching your builds. Thank you for positive feel-good material.

I would love some more inexpensive structural material. I have a low budget, as many people do.

  2. I have really enjoyed all the shop infrastructure builds during quarantine. My workspace has been rearranged twice since March and I have been taking lessons and work flow tips from these videos. Best advice yet has been – if something is hard to access, you won’t use it.

Years ago, I was managing a small team in an even smaller space. Inventory was a nightmare, and finding places for day to day necessities was even worse.

I got into so many arguments with people who were putting tools into jars, into drawers, behind smaller boxes. Youd have to get EVERYTHING out of the way to get to a screw driver. Oi.

  3. Just wanted to throw a shout out to Adam for literally getting me through this time. Your one day builds are always entertaining (maybe more so with you self filming, lol.) I have greatly enjoyed the positivity and enthusiasm and it has truly inspired me to sort the home shop and spend the time finishing those projects that have been piling up over the years.

Thank you for what you do!

  4. Another awesome build, I would love to get hold of one of the books you use for drawing your plans. Could spend some time just browsing getting ideas to improve my shop. Maybe sell off some of the mistakes as signature items on your webpage? Thank you for keeping me inspired to do more things and look outside of the box. Stay safe looking forward to your next build.
