Adam Savage’s One Day Builds: New Drill Press Table!
This weekend project has Adam taking apart his Powermatic drill press and lugging the entire machine to the center of the cave to switch out its table with a new one he bought online. But here’s the catch: the new table’s mount is just slightly narrower than the drill press’s column can accommodate, so Adam needs to precisely mill out just enough steel to get it to fit. And not all goes according to plan…

Hi Adam – thanks for the interesting video. All the “doing” was in time lapse. Ironically, the boring bit was the interesting part. Can you use a tripod or some such to detail key points of the “doing” more? Like how you centered the hole in the first place, and I guess in the end, you bored from both sides to compensate for the boring bit deflection? The extra mile (in post) would be “prerequisite” callback links such as to a video on your slick clamping rig (if such a video exists).
