Great show guys, Since Adam (and I’m sure a bunch of other people) didn’t realize until later that the Tesseract from the Avengers was an infinity stone, it might be worth mentioning that we have seen 3 Infinity stones so far, the Aether in Thor 2 was also one. So we have seen 3 of the 6 infinity stones Thanos is after, so far.
I’m not a big comic guy, but I’d like to see DC take more from the Vertigo well for cinematic adaptations. I remain cautiously optimistic about the upcoming Hellblazer series on NBC starting in October (not a fan of the film). Does the world really need anymore Batman or Superman franchises?
Friends, LSD and cats….memories!
On the DC front, don’t forget about _Arrow_ and _The Flash_… grittier than normal DC fare and quite enjoyable, though I’m being careful to not get my hopes up too much for _Gotham_.
Hah; remember the Kevin Rose video of him and the racoon? Classic.
Guardians of the Galaxy being good really makes it a bummer the current Guardians of the Galaxy and Stal-Lord comics are so damn terrible.
Thank jeebus James Gunn is an intelligent dude who knew to use actually good comics as inspiration for his film.
On the topic of Gamora being the least strong character in the movie, I suspect it’s due to fact the next movie will most likely be more about her. A huge part of her story is her relationship with Thanos, who is supposed to be the main badie in Avengers 3, it makes sense that they would spend part of Guardians of the Galaxy 2 dealing with Thanos and Gamora and setting up the start of Avengers 3.
There is also some speculation that one showed up in the first episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D Season 2 last week 🙂
Yeah, I heard people speculating on that, I think it’s highly unlikely, though. The show is fun, but far from high profile and I think a very small number of movie watchers actually watch the show, so introducing an infinity stone in the show doesn’t make a lot of sense. People who only watch the movies will miss things and get lost.
I think the crossovers will continue to be like they have been, people or objects showing up in the show as an extra to the movies, no important stuff will only happen in the show. Agent C now heading S.H.I.E.L.D. is easily explained away in a movie if Fury shows up again “Thanks for taking the Helm C, now scoot over, I’ll take it from here”. Explaining how they found a stone will be too much, I think.
Wonderful Guardians podcast, Guys!
Pssst: Dave Batista’s last name is pronounced ‘Bah-teest-uh.
Just saying. 😊
It would definitely be a bold choice, and I agree it is unlikely. Whatever that thing is though, it is definitely powerful. Hidden in a warehouse, burns people to crisps… Very Raiders :p
While Ronan was not as great and layered as he has been in comics, he was still great as a villain in this film.
Mostly because he just doesn’t give a damn about anyone else and does not show even an inkling of fear or respect for designated big baddie Thanos.
I very much enjoyed GotG
But it felt an awful lot like Titan AE to me.
why do i have the feeling that Norm was probably picked on a lot at school?
i like how he will probably look 17 for ever, and has the knowledge of a walking Wikipedia. But i mostly like how excited he gets when he tells something. awesome podcast once again. i haven’t seen this movie yet, but i like how you guys talk about it. it makes sens now why my girlfriend has been replying: “i’m groot” to everything the last week.
I just wanted to move to San Franscisco – from Denmark…
“I have an amazing cat-asshole story!”
What a great way to start a story!
I like Adam’s dog – she kept coming back into the room to see if they we finished because she wanted Adam’s attention – – just like a kid would do >
Any cat-fancier will tell you that the reason cats show off their assholes is because it’s how they communicate the “news” to each other. If your cat presents it’s toolbox to you, it’s expecting you to ‘read the paper’ as it were. There’s nothing malicious about it and you guys being dog lovers will know that it’s the same for dogs. Dogs sniff each others clacks, it’s just the way the world turns.
That said, I love my cat, but she can be a dick.
For a spoilercast, you really didn’t spoil much there.
995 beats? Why are you recording with your DAW set at ~26 beats per minute?
I hope the next movie starts with a montage of Groot growing up. Filled with hijinx.
it’s a reference to Swatch Internet Time, which was alluded to on a previous episode.
The name you were looking for is Thranduil.
Ahhhh, that makes more sense. Thank you!
Back in the 80s you used to be able to buy “dancing flowers”, which were a very simple animatronic of a cartoon flower in a pot that would gyrate to sound and would look like they were dancing if you played music. I’ve got no idea whether they still sell them anywhere. I don’t think I’ve seen them in shops since I was a kid, but if someone were to get hold of one of those, it’d be a very simple task to convert it to a dancing Groot.
I’d be surpised if some crafty person hadn’t already had a crack at it.
It was an awesome movie. I took my two oldest boys to see it and they also loved it. A friend of mine contacted me immediately after he saw the movie and the first thing he said was that we needed to make a really good dancing Groot.
There’s also really cool kids Rocket costume build on the RPF right now.
There has since been a few dancing groots. But nothing that holds or produces a rhythm. Dancing flowers aren’t as good as I remember them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUZebHmsv9c
a dancing coke can may be better: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xyz42OBQOQ
But to be honest there isn’t any reason you couldn’t cobble together an arduino and a series of servos. Even better would be attaching it directly to a mp3 player and finding BPM and other useful info not accessible when interpolating over a microphone.
Ah, if only there was more time in the world.
