I agree with Norm. “Five Came Back” was an excellent documentary. How each director was affected by the experience was interesting too. It’s been awhile since I saw the documentary but didn’t John Huston make John Wayne cry?
Anyways, after watching the series I would highly recommend you go back and watch the films that each director made. I believe they are also on Netflix.
Adam was talking about the Soviet wireless bug – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Thing_(listening_device)
It was indeed pretty cool, and as additional coolness was designed by Leon Theremin, of the musical instrument fame.

Also, several hearing aids come with rechargable batteries. Opticon and others make high end models with the features Adam describes. plop them in the charger overnight.

Actually it was Ford who was brought to tears by Robert Montgomery a real PT skipper in WW2 ,during the making of “They were expendable” Ford was abusing Wayne at every opportunity about no serving during WW2 , Montgomery stepped in and asked him to back off, Montgomery thought Ford was harassing Wayne for his benefit because Wayne hadn’t served due his age.
Although he’s really not tall enough, I always thought Henry Rollins would make a good Jack Reacher.
