Location Tracking – Still Untitled: The Adam Savage Project – 12/13/18
As Adam talks about a few of his favorite things from this year, we appreciate local businesses like tailors and cobblers that offer services we’d much prefer to patronize in person than online. We also talk about the prevalence of location tracking on our devices, and give a few new media recommendations.

Re: Location tracking. There is a simple solution for users but the solution will mean less revenue for smartphone companies and companies producing apps. The solution is to set all services for new phones and apps to off so it is up to the user to opt-in. Any updates should maintain the user’s choices. As an owner of an iPhone 6, I need to review my settings whenever I update my OS. A recent OS update added a new service that transforms Siri into Alexis by hooking up Siri to all of my apps (it is called Siri Suggestions). Of course, everything was set to opt-in. On its own, the Siri Suggestions sucked about 70% of my battery over the course of the first day.
The NYTimes article that describes how to modify location tracking is good.
I am also liking the idea of a Faraday cage phone case/bag. Any suggestions/recommendations? Perhaps this can be a one-day build.
