Is there a Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance podcast in the pipeline?
My wife and I binged it on the first weekend and recently went back to watch the included ‘Making of’ documentary. I’ve been looking forward to your thoughts on the series and doc.
One of the benefits of having a Norwegian world champion chess player is that we Norwegians get days and weeks of great chess coverage on mainstream TV every year. Hundreds of thousands watch the games live.
Major tournaments last two full weeks and each day of play usually averages at about six hours. With move times of up to 25 minutes at critical times, the commentators really have to go deep to keep people interested, but they do.
The key for turning chess into interesting television is putting together a panel that has both strong players that can accurately assess and predict the current games, and strong personalities who still have solid chess understanding, so you have both play-by-play and color commentators. It is also important that the team works well together.
There’s always a lot of wikipedia research for all the references they throw in… “This idea that is being played by Aronian here was popularized by Lasker in his world championship games against Steinitz…” and off you go, reading about the chess politics of the 1890s.
I am excited for that! I wasn’t expecting to love it so much. Fact of the show, bloody Barney Dixon, friend of the show, is doing the minifig show in the circle of the suns!
The boys is a monster. I almost couldn’t take the suspense… Homelander is strangely beguiling as he’s omnipotent and oh so scary.
You guys should hit BoardGameGeekCon sometime. It’s not the visual spectacle that a ComicCon or DragonCon might be, but it’s a big group of creative people all having fun together.
Do you like it more than GenCon?
Loved that Adam has obviously never listened to an episode of TIOAT.
