The single best talk I’ve ever seen or heard of on computer hardware security: https://www.bunniestudios.com/blog/?p=5519
Pretty sure the “different narrative” is less informed by Black Mirror, and more by the fact that Spot is a repainted, miniaturized version of a DARPA funded weapons platform intended for use in active warzones. If Big Dog had been more silent, it would be patrolling Iraq with a remote-controlled machine gun on its back right now.
I’ll be more comfortable when we realize that three laws safe applies to robot makers as much as to tech.
Well, If you liked “Parasite” I can’t recommend you enough the Brazilian movie “Bacurau”. “Parasita” won the Grand Prize in Cannes, “Bacurau” won the Jury Award (don’t know if that’s the way the prize names are translated to English, but I think you got it).
Amazing movies that truly deserve to be seen side by side. You won’t regret it. Is probably available on demand in the US by now.
Yes, a slow-moving, easily disabled gun platform with the ability to cover an extremely limited distance between charges would be a tremendous advantage to any military.
Matthew Broderick has killed more people than that thing ever will.
The US military thought it had enough promise to spend millions developing it, which is why it exists in the first place. They also tried putting bombs on bats, so not everything they put money into works out, which doesn’t mean this is any less a weapon with a shiny coat of friendly paint.
It doesn’t need a lot of range or speed to be an effective weapon. It just has to get close enough to shoot a gun at a stationary target.
actually it will open in theaters March 6. You should really really go see it. I can help you guys with some context later.
