Beverly Downen – The Adam Savage Project – 9/22/20
We’re joined by the costumer and cosplayer Beverly Downen this week to talk about how cosplayers like her have adapted to shift to virtual conventions this year, staying motivated, and revisiting some of her past projects. We also discuss the collaboration between cosplayer and photographer, and the joy of sharing fabrication processes and techniques.

the talk about finding that superhero pose made me wonder how common it is for cosplayers to look into the posing aspect of competitive bodybuilding – there should be quite a few overall parallels, and that very inward focus on how to exactly hold a limb in relation to the body parts around it, how much tension to hold in which muscle, how to emphasise some body parts against others, sounds like a useful technique to have in the repertoire.
I saw her video on the making of the corset. It was so beautiful, but of course now I need a Cricket Cutter for my EVA foam projects. Does anyone know how often one would need to change or replace the cutting blades when cutting EVA. Anyways, great post cast and thanks again.
