OEMs still put crapware on the PCs because the profit margins on PCs are still razor thin. As the price of the parts fall, the price of the PCs fall due to competition. HP and others on their high end machines (Envy, etc) I don’t believe put all that crapware on..
Also I’m surprised you guys weren’t ripping apart the whole “$99” signature charge. It’s not that much different the the $99 Geek Squad charges (which seems unanimously hated). In some ways Geek Squad is better because they atleast burn you recovery discs. I’m not defending Geek Squad, trust me, but I’m just saying.
