  1. One of my friends was one of the 10 Stormtroopers on stage wearing the new armor. Pretty cool stuff.

  2. Ultron comes out May 1st in the US, in Germany it was released today and it was pretty awesome.

I guess that compensates for having to wait four weeks for Guardians of the Galaxy last year.

  3. On the Cheerson nano-quad, I’d argue that the older model of that same quad is probably better. It’s just the straight CX-10: http://www.banggood.com/Cheerson-CX10-CX10-Mini-24G-4CH-6-Axis-LED-RC-Quadcopter-RTF-p-926614.html

The “A” variant added headless mode in basically a firmware update, but other than that, from what I’ve read on rcgroups.com , the handling was toned down a bit for the original CX-10. Huge thread here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2165079

Strange thing about this quad is that the original variant had three different color controller boards, with three different radio protocols. One of them will actually bind with more high end, full sized radios if you want something you can actually hold without feeling like a giant 🙂

Another recommendation that I’d make for a mini-quad that’s cheap is the Eachines CG023. http://www.banggood.com/Eachine-CG023-Mini-2_4G-6-Axis-LED-Headless-Mode-RC-Quadcopter-RTF-p-956820.html

Like the CX10, there are some flaky ones out there, mainly due to a QC control problem on the yellow/red wired motors. The good news is that it’s not that hard to replace motors if yours burns out, and they only cost a couple of dollars a piece. And these mini-quads that used brushed motors are going to burn out motors eventually anyway. That’s just the nature of brushless motors. So order a CW and CCW spare when you buy (good idea for the CX10, too).

This is a very sporty flyer for intermediate pilots. It’s a Blade Nano QX knock off, but instead of being $100, it’s $22. It doesn’t have the full on expert mode with stabilization turned off like the Blade, but it still flies great, and probably is actually a better outdoor flyer than the original Nano QX due to stronger motors. That’s my favorite cheap quad right now by a long shot.

  4. Regarding the Anovos stormtrooper Kit, there is a post on Jedi News by 501st member Clint Randall, explaining the process and showing build pictures of the Force Awakens armor they showed at Celebration.

The 501st members who were asked to help debut the armor ordered kits through Anovos which they finished themselves.

This is not the kit you guys are talking about but chances are this is more or less what we’re getting when ordering the OT trooper kit. Don’t expect to pull a bunch of parts out of the box you can just strap on and head out with. Kits usually require a bit of work before they are ready to wear.

But please do a build video on this! 😀 Maybe a video where Will and Norm try and build their own and a separate video of Adam building/customizing one! That would be awesome 😀

Build reports are always fun 🙂

  5. To the listener who asked about food recommendations in SF… (I hope he sees this)

I visited SF a couple of weeks ago and it is by far one of the coolest cities I’ve ever been to. Here are a couple of things I would recommend:

    – Una Pizza Napoletana – http://www.unapizza.com/
One of the best pizzas I’ve ever had. It was pretty expensive but definitely worth it. Just check the video on the site and you’ll see what it’s all about 🙂

    – Go to The Ferry Building because there are a bunch of restaurant and take-out places and all the things I had there was excellent so you should without a doubt be able to find some great food there.

    – Little Skillet – http://www.littleskilletsf.com/
We went to this place based on Norm’s recommendation and it was excellent. My girlfriend had the waffles and I had an omelette.

    – Dottie’s True Blue Café – http://www.yelp.com/biz/dotties-true-blue-cafe-san-francisco
We went here by mistake thinking it was a coffee shop – I think we got it mixed up with Blue Bottle Coffee. We had just been to Little Skillet, walked past Dottie’s True Blue Café and thought we would grab a cup of coffee. So we stood in line for 30 minutes and then we got inside and were showed to our table we found out that it was an actual restaurant. We felt bad telling them that we thought it was a coffee shop, so we felt obliged to order something – and I’m glad we did. The muffins are insanely huge and one of the best I’ve ever had and the chili cheddar cornbread with jalapeño jelly was excellent!

    – If you’re into coffee you should check out Blue Bottle Coffee, Gasoline Alley Coffee, Ritual Coffee, Four Barrel Coffee, and Sight Glass. All of these places were awesome!

    – By the way, if you’re a fan of Star Wars you should go to the Lucasfilm Ltd in the Presidio where there’s a really cool 1:1 statue of Yoda. We went there on a Tuesday and the park guard told us that the lobby was open so we could go inside and have a look at some awesome props from the movies.
