Podcast - This Is Only a Test
Episode 336 – SteamVR Developer Showcase – 1/28/16
Special episode of This is Only a Test this week, as Norm is on location in Seattle for Vavle and HTC’s SteamVR Developer Showcase. The VR Minute is expanded into a full-blown episode, as we chat with the developers of Job Simulator and Fantastic Contraption about their experiments in virtual reality and lessons learned from game development. (Sorry, no video this week. We’ll be back in studio next week for a regular episode!)

VR is cool but I’m not going to be able to afford to even try it. I’m getting a little bored with all the coverage. Just my $.02

Brace yourself because it’s just starting. The next year is going to be a LOT of VR coverage, and I couldn’t be happier about it. VR stuff is the only reason I come back to Tested anymore.
I have to agree; enough with the podcast being 90% VR; way to much hyping of VR the last 5 or so podcasts. Feel like it has taken over for how bad it was for a while on Drones last year on the show. I really like Kishore Hari for the third chair, Jeremy is a great second chair. Norm is doing good at host, but step outside your comfort zone and talk about more than this. Or leave VR to the very end so i can just turn off the podcast.
Yes, structure the order of the show for your personal preference 😉 I like the VR stuff even though I have no plans to be an early adopter. I’m interested in the long game that’s unfolding. Maybe it should be first because I like!
Then… just don’t listen to the podcasts and quit whining about content you’re not interested in?
Personally, Tested’s VR coverage is the only reason I come to the site and listen to the podcasts. Norm’s coverage of VR is second to none and I can’t get enough of it!
Yeah, I wonder sometimes why I listen to the podcast. My guess is that it’s because of the hosts who are all great people. The topics on the other hand (VR, drones and maker…stuff) all bore me to tears. I’d listen to The Verge but I can’t stand Nilay.
That why I continue to listen to it as well. Hosts are great, just would like more topics discussed.
These game descriptions are getting me inspired. I’d really like a game where I’m a giant monster destroying a city. Maybe a VR version of Rampage. To be King Kong or Godzilla or the Megazord and fight another monster or just go ape on a city like downtown Tokyo. I really hope someone is already working on this kind of game.
Im with you. Its time to spin the vr minute into a separate show. Its killing this one.
