I thought Norm was blaming Jeremy for being a day late, too.
Whoa, where did the video go?
Love this weeks vr minutes, is the Sofa you are sitting on in the video custom made ?
It’s an hour-long Instagram filter.
Small correction: The RFID/NFC chip is so that it kicks right into VR when the phone is inserted. There are two nubs out of 6 nubs (the dark grey ones in the centre) that touch the screen which carry a capacitive load, and those align the screen.
The RFID chip probably carries some generation/model information so that the phone can change the display parameters (for future daydream phones) to match the generation of the Daydream headset being used.

I hate scores showing up in the middle of the action. Hope you can switch that one off.
Norm, you said the Santa Cruz CPU / board was tiny. This probably means it’s a SOC rather than a desktop or even mobile level CPU. So this means this is more like a Gear VR with positional tracking, right? That’s cool, but sounds like more of a proof of concept than an evolution of the Rift in it’s current phase.
In my comment, by “mobile”, I meant laptop.
What camera is this its a beautiful picture with or without the rays!
So all discussions about VR have completely stopped asking “Why?”. Or who would buy this? (except a few rich nerds).
I want to want VR, but see less and less point to it. Tried and occulus once and the novelty of a 3D screen really close to my face wore of after about 3 min. And didn’t waving shit around as controllers die with the wee?! Also: $800?! heck no.
Right now it’s not really worth jumping in if you already have cold feet. The tech WILL get better and cheaper eventually so even if you are put off by VR now it will eventually become more desirable later on as the years pass.
I enjoy my Vive immensely, but even then you can tell there still are a lot of growing pains in VR. And btw VR is NOT just for rich people. I got one and I can tell you for a fact I am not rich. Just good at budgeting.
