The Enterprise seen at the end of ST:Discovery isn’t 10 years OLDER… its 10 years NEWER than the Enterprise we know from TOS. Captain Pike is the Captain, before Kirk takes over 10 years later.
Hey, Norm, how about spelling out the snacks’ name and/or providing the Amazon link? Thanks!
The snacks are called “Umaibo”

There actually is a Night Court in NYC, it runs from 5PM to 1AM

The gesture controls on the iPhone X remind me of the old days of Blackberry 10. I’m glad someone else is picking up those ideas and iterating on them, I loved being able to use swipe gestures on BB10. I wouldn’t mind having it on Android either.
This just in:
Umaibo to be TESTED.com’s next premium membership gift.
I know someone who might know a thing or two about the hand-dryer thing:
That is me washing my hands being observed by the Hyneman, as one of sixteen volunteers who had their hands sprayed with e-coli for science. We then spent the day washing and drying our hands in various ways, with Jamie respraying us and Adam swabbing post-hand-washing/drying.
It is important to note they were *not* testing a real-life scenario, which meant they used a purpose-built test-room that had no previous bacteria systems (for example living in the air-dryer).
This was Mythbusters, so the test was only whether air-dryers were A. worse at getting your hands clean than paper-towels, and B. spreading the water and bacteria around the room.
Their results were pretty clear:
Conclusions:
Use soap. Seriously, use soap. Also, if you have a choice between paper towels and air-dryers, use the paper towels. It is cleaner, generally faster, and although it does waste paper, most paper towels are recycled and chances are they will be recycled again.
PS. I read a different study that concluded that the cloth-roll towels are the cleanest option, as they are more effective at soaking up water than paper towels. It is a common misconception that the roller towels you see in bathrooms come back around, they do not, there are two rolls, one clean and one used, that are physically separated. Once you reach the end, the towel is removed and disinfected by heating it to 150 degrees.
while living in Lompoc has it’s drawbacks, we do have a front row seat to all the Vandenberg launches
Calling you out on the Mars lander update. That was sad.
Brent Spiner (Data on TNG) got a start on TV on “Night Court”… some of his best comedy appearances 😀 Look it up, worth it!
Washington DC is also piloting electric scooters, I saw them at Awesome Con this year.
Stop wishing stupid stuff on Portland. WE DO NOT WANT OR NEED electric scooters-sharing. We won’t be charmed by it. We won’t embrace it as fun and funky and eccentric. Our streets are already clogged with oblivious smart-phone-addict drivers in Car-to-Go and Reach rentals, recent in-migrants trying to figure out our fiendishly complicated SW/SE/NE/NW street naming convention, and UBER drivers crawling along in the bike lane looking for “Jason” or “Jared” or “Summer” who just moved here from the suburbs near Austin or SF (or some other place that “used to be a cool city, until it was ruined by all the out-of-owners…”) and is just not comfortable riding on a bus. Our sidewalks are impassible with recent arrivals and tourists on Biketown bicycles. Every third corner is decorated with a “ghost bike” memorial for somebody who got right-hooked because he or she didn’t know how to ride a bike in traffic. Pick another city. Portland is done.
Jesus, guys. What a glossing over of Night Court and Harry Anderson. You spent 20 mins talking about King of Kong and couldn’t even bother to look into Noght Court a bit. Also LOL about Norm assuming any courtroom show must be a reality show.
Harry Anderson gained some notoriety as a literal street hustler. He was a really good magician too. Got a spot on Cheers as a guest character from time to time.
Night court tells the story of a governor who as a last ditch FU to the state in his way out the door appoints the youngest judge to the bench. Known as a good who doesn’t take anything seriously he turns out to be a heart full guy who really wants to make a difference. All the other characters on the show are rust as richly written. Do yourself a favor and check it out.
Rant over… love you guys.
Cheers!
Love all the Umaibo since stumbling across them at Lawson’s on a trip. I got even more excited when discovering Australian Daiso sells them.
If you like them, I suggest you also try “Caramel Corn” it is different but I love the taste.
However there is a difference between the taste of the ‘available locally’ packets and the ‘from Japan’ packets, I don’t know if there are different factories, but the Japan Caramel Corn is great, the local one isn’t.
