Not sure if any of you will see this and even though I am aware that it is not your concern (we can’t fight all fights), I do feel the need to point this out. The boycott Mulan campaign started last year during the Hong Kong protests, with Liu Yifei and Donnie Yen basically coming out as our equivalent of #bluelivesmatter. The boycott already had traction in countries like Taiwan and Thailand. The fact that they filmed next to concentration camps would have been amplified either way, I first saw it on pro-Hong Kong democracy accounts and it got amplified from there.
If everyone has their ideal casting for the Duncan character in mind, does that mean they have their own private Idaho?
Had no say in the politics?? How does that possibly matter? If a theater release, we don’t see as much backlash? That just speaks to how blind we are to suffering in the world if we are duly entertained. Come on guys, how could you be so blind??
