Norm Drinks Soylent, Day 4

In today’s update to the weeklong Soylent drinking challenge, Norm examines the ingredients of this wonder food and talks about how the flavor and texture of Soylent changes (and doesn’t change) as you add more ingredients. Also, calorie rationing makes Norm feel like a pet. To support Norm in his new healthy living initiative, sign up for a Tested Premium Membership by clicking here.

  1. Norm its seems you become more and more difficult to drink soylent….in first episode you drink such as you were very tirsty,,..now you drink just one gulp of drink…i dont imagine for last episode… 🙂 may force be with you.

  2. Did you ever try mixing the batch the day before and letting it sit in the fridge? One review i read, and i can not remember where, said that doing that essentially eliminated the chalky after taste. It has something to do with the water getting into all the nooks and crannies. Alton Brown would explain it better.

  3. I would imagine the gas is your stomach getting used to the new diet. Generally with any major dietary change, large amounts of gas are generated.

I believe the grit is due to your bad blender. It doesn’t matter how long you run it, if the blender isn’t good enough, it just won’t help.

I find this whole test really interesting, thanks for donating your body to science!

  4. He seems to be drinking less and less (on camera) as this goes on.

By the end, I can envision Norm taking one sip out of a glass, slamming it down on the counter, and then proclaiming, “I did it! I completed the Soylent Challenge!!” At the same time, he then grabs a bag of Wendy’s (that is sitting just off camera), and proceeds to inhale a burger as fast as he can! 😂

    ^ This.

Hats off to you Norm for testing Solyent, but a week probably isn’t long enough in order to get over the initial dietary side effects. Years ago I did a radical swap out of diets, and it took a while for my body to adjust and I was hella gassy and lost a load of weight (not the intention, simply a side effect) but after a week or so it all evened out and my body adapted.

Also as Strafan says, try mixing a batch up the day before and storing it in the fridge. Like Pizza it tastes better the next day apparently.

  6. “Norm feels like he is drinking his own farts” would have been a hell of a caption for this video. Good on you for trying but still seems like you can’t beat the ‘superfood’ known as a balanced diet.

  7. This unfortunately is no longer interesting and insightful, as a regular follower of the site we already know the ending to this challenge/test. The only surprise that is left, is what does Norm eat when completing his Soylent/Fruit/Diet-Coke/Coffee test… Almost a week of latency for publishing is LAME. Please in the future have daily updated videos of this sort of thing. It gives us all something to look forward to, to watch. Or try not to spoil the results on a podcasts. I would think that this sort of content is to get viewers and readers to sign up to be premium membership, or maybe not… I am not a producer. I am truly a fan of this site, and just wanted to give some constructive criticism about instilling some value for premium members money.

  8. Banana are high flavor a little goes a long way berries you have to go closer to one for one same with mixed fruit takes a lot for flavor change. You need to know how much to add
