Tested Builds: ErgoDox Mechanical Keyboards, Part 3

The diligent soldering continues, and at this rate, one of the team is bound to burn themselves on a soldering iron, right? You’ll have to watch to find out, but we promise some satisfying peeling of the protective plastic covers off of our laser-cut acrylic sheets. And it’s almost time to put those key-switches in! 1. If you fellas love laser cutters, then you need to check out waterjets!

Seriously, the next time you’re up here in the Seattle area, get in touch with me and I’ll give you the full blown tour and intro to abrasive waterjet machining here at Omax Corp. In fact, the Autodesk Pier 9 facility has one of our 60120 waterjet machines. Anouk Wipprecht constructed her Faraday Cage dress from last year’s Maker Faire using panels cut on this particular machine.

If you guys would like, I’d be happy to cut out some fancier housings for these keyboards – marble or granite maybe? Just let me know!

  2. Really enjoying this week! If possible, I’d love to see a full BOM and suppliers/prices for the various components.

  3. Like Will I am also amazed every time some thing made in the US fits together with any thing made outside the US :)) And its not just about the Imperial versus metric.

  4. Im currently a senior in high school. My school has two electronics classes; Electronics and Advanced Electronics. Las year in electronics we just designed RC and RL circuits for radios, and this year in advanced electronics we do logic gates, and RAM, and ROM circuits

  5. Hey Will and Norm, I’m a sophomore in high school and I’m currently working on a homemade motor controller using smd components(0805) for a small electric vehicle for an energy efficiency competition. I’m also working on an inexpensive health analysis platform for third world countries. We do not have an electronics class, I just use forums and local professors for guidance with the different aspects of my projects.

  6. Yeah, I’m with Adam on the whole, “Can’t you just go to the store and buy one for $15”.
