In preparation for bringing his Blade Runner blaster replica to meet the original prop in Dan Lanigan’s collection, Adam spent an afternoon tweaking and touching up his build. Which brings up a technical question about shooting the time-lapse… was the footage shot as time-lapse or in real time and sped up in the edit?

On a side note, also noticed this didn’t step up to HD for me, if it was released as that. Would be nice to have a settings option on the video player, but really nice to see a HTML5 player.

Why is the quality so bad? Is there a setting I where I can change that? It’s a shame that all that detail Adam wants to show is lost in pixelated frames.

Fun video but the time laps was a bit too fast for my liking to really appreciate what Adam was doing and the amount of time it took him to do it.
Html5 feedback just in case your top men somehow missed it but No HD playback nor no volume controls on Win7 with Firefox on a powerful internet connection.

No volumn control for me as well, though I never noticed any HD.
Love the video. Love the mechanical fasteners instead of glue, something I want to try with my own builds.
Regarding the player: once the video completes there seems to be no way of replaying the video without reloading the page.
I sooooo want to see more! I’ve been building my own Blade runner blaster as well out of original parts and some I’m creating to make mine unique. I think I saw some clues on how you made your Steyr chamber cover with a single pin going down the center, that helps a bunch! I’ve been stuck both on that part and how the trigger guard connects to the front of the Bulldog. I’m attempting to cast my own side plates out of aluminum but it’s been a long process of building the furnace just to process aluminum. I’ve learned so much about molding and sculpting from Tested! Thanks for all the inspiration!

Thanks! I love the neo-1940’s noir feel to the film. Something I’m definitely pulling fan fiction on with my blaster is that early plastics for items like ball point pens, knobs, suitcase handles and coat buttons were made of something called milk plastics which had a stripped pattern to them. I found it fitting to do something in that vein on the handle which became a lot of work over using something already available for purchase off ebay or the like. Much like Adam has his own serial number (9613), as does mine (9574) only 39 stamps apart from Steyr. As you can see, I’m not exactly looking to make a replica but rather something that “fits” in that universe.

Adam , great to see more of your fasination in this prop, thanks for sharing . When you get to meet Ridley one question you must ask (if you don’t already know )
Whenever you watch Bladerunner documentaries especially dangerous days there are numerous clips of Ridley standing behind the camera or reviewing dialogue with the actors , in a lot of cases Ridley is standing there holding the blaster in his hand , and it looks weighted like the master prop, how many were made ? And does Ridley still have an original considering he conceived it and obviously loved it so much

I’d be interested to know what make/model of the prop Adam would recommend for someone wanting an accurate “looks like” replica but doesn’t want to spend the money on one made from original parts or that all-metal Japanese one. I’ve seen plenty of cast resin ones that are affordable but folks post pictures of them with bent barrels, etc. It would seem that there has to be a happy middle ground of accurate looks but lower cost materials and construction.
