Hands-On with DJI Mavic Foldable Quadcopter Drone!

We go hands-on with the DJI Mavic, a foldable drone that’s half the size and weight of the Phantom 4 quadcopter. We take it for a test flight, check out its 4K video quality, and chat with DJI about its unique features, including a new computer vision tracking system and wi-fi transmitter control. Here’s our hopes and fears for this new category of compact quads.

  1. Wow I never would have guessed that the tech from a Phantom would be able to get that small so soon. Looks like a great machine!

  2. This thing is really compelling just from the size and stability.

Casey Neistat lost his damned mind in his vlog today when he saw how well it did, and considering he brings a Phantom 4 wherever he goes I get why he was so excited. :p

  3. Now they just need to make the arms spring loaded and get rid of the boot up/calibration, so you can just toss the “package” into the air and have it instantly start hovering.

  4. that bubbe sounds like bad news, no good for filming near water with sun light, spray and reflection city !

can you guys compare to the gopro Karma?

  5. Totally get that this is a press/publicity thing and you probably had very limited time with it, but why not mention what a new product allows you to do, which use cases are opened up and what the design philosophy idea was behind it. Why not get a cinematographer or another one of the great experts in the Tested network to have a look at it and get their thoughts on it?
