will it run Linux?
If I didn’t already have an iPad Mini 2 that I really like I’d be super interested in this. The ability to do limited typing is cool, and the drawbacks there are made up for by the Wacom functionality. The Windows version sounds like it would work well, but the Android version may actually make more sense due to power concerns. Apparently there are some custom features in the Android version, too, like the ability to take notes with the screen off. Still, I’d probably want a Windows one for the potential of setting it up with an Xbox controller and playing some hardware-light 2D games like Spelunky, Rogue Legacy, Shovel Knight, etc.
Is it possible to connect it to another computer and use it as a traditional drawing tablet, like a wired Wacom?
I want to like this, and it does look very cool. However, the low-grade processing makes me highly skeptical. It seems like an iPad Pro would be a better option except for the limitations of iOS. Although, if you’ve seen AstroPad, it does make a killer Wacom-like drawing tablet for a Mac. Shame you can’t Astropad the iPad Pro to Windows. That would be a true peanut butter and chocolate combination!
I’m a Windows user and I am decidedly NOT an Apple fan, but having used Windows 8 and 10, while it’s more robust it just feels so much clunkier than iOS with too many steps to do anything. Your mileage may vary, but that’s been my frustration. The perfect balance between functionality and simplicity – that’s the OS Holy Grail and I just don’t think anyone’s really found it yet.
I noticed that the ink capture went to a dedicated app. Can you instead pipe the ink output to other Windows apps ala OneNote?
Not being able to letting fingers rest on the keys is a BIG deal breaker for me. It’s an ergonomic disaster. Even after just a few seconds you feel the strain on the top of the hands. Anyone using a computer for longer times should have their elbows and underarms resting on a surface.
Enough rant. I do like the idea of the wacom and screen looks nice.
Is there a hardware difference between the windows and android versions?
