1. Adam thanks for doing another video on hearing loss. I remember the Still Untitled video on this you posted close to 5 years ago. I’ve had tinitis for 15 – 20 years along with hearing loss around 50%. Three years ago I went and got tested, and brought a set of hearing aids and they are awesome, also helped dampen the tinitis, it’s still there but a lot less. So thanks again for talking about this.

2. Adam, your stories of your hearing lost was one of the reason’s I got my hearing checked earlier this year. (You and my wife berating me for saying ‘What?’ all the time too.)

   I am a 57 year old remote broadcast television engineer and as you know, hearing is half the show. At the first show after getting my Stakey Via AIs, I instantly heard a ‘tic” in a MADI stream that no one else had ever heard. It was like being Scotty on the Enterprise! (Hoorah!)

   Having the hearing aids talk to my phone is so awesome! I have presets built for restaurants, movies and even for my viewing room at home. (It’s freak’n awesome to shut off the closed caption once and for all!)

   Speaking of the next iteration, I’ve inquired about the future of implantable hearing aids and have volunteered for any human trials when they happen. (Charging the hearing aids might be the only tough issue. Micro-USB of Lighting? LOL)

3. I’ve also lost a lot of low frequencies but I honestly kinda like it. I find myself trying more restaurants than I ever have before since I no longer have to listen to other people’s insufferable conversations 😀

4. Thank you for sharing, it helps dispel the stigma of all hidden disabilities. I have ADHD, dyslexia, probably have central auditory processing disorder (my hearing is good, but I have poor listening comprehension (about -2 STD) and the ADHD makes it worse) and often display the mannerisms one often associates with the autistic (I stem and miss a lot of social cues).

   I mention all of that to illustrate how one person talking about their problem could provide a solution to completely unrelated set of problems faced by another person. Like you I have a hard time following conversations in noisy environments, in fact if I’m out clubbing the only way I can understand what someone is saying is if they say it directly into my ear. Your hearing aid/phone app combo would be great for me in noisy environments, and if I had had it 15 years ago it might have saved a friendship…

5. Great video, Adam. I started wearing hearing aids in January this year after a congenital condition was diagnosed. They changed my life almost instantly!

   I used to actively avoid going to places where background noise would be high. Not any more.
