Tested In-Depth: DJI Phantom 2 Vision+ Quadcopter Drone

It may sound like the buzzing of a swarm of bees, but it’s actually the whirring of the new DJI Phantom Vision+ quadcopter that we’ve been testing. We head out to Treasure Island to get some flying lessons and then sit down to explain why we’re so excited about RC drone technology. The first part of this video was actually shot with the Phantom 2 Vision+!

  1. Great job on the video review, Guys!

The various aerial views of the Bay Area were nothing short of spectacular! 🙂

I can’t wait to see what else you film with one of these quadcopters..

  2. This thing is truly rad. The gimbal is a game changer and turns the footage produced by the original Vision from hobbyist to pro. Sign me up.

  3. Great review guys! I think I’ll wait until they come out with a gimbal and video feed adapter for a GoPro though. I don’t feel like paying for a drone AND a camera that’s not as good as a GoPro that I already own.

  4. Nice review, can’t wait to see some more testing. Very curious to see you hook it up to the oculus!

  5. that’s a butt

very cool stuff, the video looks really cool, i’d love to see more overhead video of traffic

  6. Will you guys have time to start a segment on a Build Your Own version. I keep wanting to build one from stores like Hobby King.

  7. I second a quadcopter build segment. I’ve been researching that myself and it seems like it would be a great project. Especially for this audience.

  8. Great video, I ended up down the rabbit hole on their site. I was curious about the professional equipment and I can’t get my head around the spreading wings http://www.dji.com/product/spreading-wings-s1000

How have they made something so bare bones? Where’s the battery? I have to know, get these guys back in this is amazing

Edit: figured where the battery is by watching this video on youtube. Worth watching I get why is so enthusiastic now

  9. This is amazing. I wonder why they didn’t put plastic circles shielding the propellers, though. It wouldn’t ruin your quadcopter if you hit a wall by accident.

  10. I wish I had the money to throw away on one of these, unfortunately the novelty would wear off too fast for me to seriously consider it, now if only I had a job that this would be beneficial for…

I ordered myself a cheap quadcopter with a little camera, hey it’s not the same but it’s something!

  11. One thing I’m really interested to see is when someone throws two linked cameras on one of these (or another RC vehicle) and pairs it with something like the Oculus Rift.

Jamie mentioned it in his video about the Rift and I feel like its something that really doesn’t get talked about a lot. 3D remote vision could be something truly groundbreaking when it comes to being able to reliably and accurately control RC vehicles in all sorts of applications from exploration and surveying to search and rescue and disaster recovery/management.

    Really exciting stuff.

  12. If the repeater was attached to another Quad held steady at maximum range and altitude, how far could the primary quad fly? perhaps “over the horizon”?

  13. That is incredibly cool, the aerial shots are just amazing. I am very impressed with how steady those shots are as well.

  14. I got mine this week, last night while flying something went wrong with the remote, it returned to home no problem. I turned the control off and on again and I was back to flying. This thing is crazy easy to fly and that return to home feature is a life saver.
