What’s in Our Camera Bag for Comic-Con 2016!

We’re down in San Diego for Comic-Con! As we prep for a week of travel and production, Joey shows you the camera gear he’s packed to shoot and edit the videos we’re making from the convention. We discuss how we go about shooting our show floor videos, and what new gear we’re excited to test on location!

  1. The Blackmagic looked good until you described the color-work required in post. Maybe I need to get a Sony A7s.

  2. Mr. Fameli, I was curious if you would share what your render setting are for when you go to render the final video for YouTube (codec and whatnot)? Do you render to taste, and then let YouTube do it’s conversion; or, do you render with the exact settings YouTube prefers?? Thank you in advance! Also, my apologies if you have answered this query elsewhere on Tested; if that is the case, please disregard this post! Thank you!

  3. Im pretty sure that black magic has free color grading software that has pretty high marks, so that might be something to look into if you were worried about cost of software.

  4. Yes, Davinci Resolve is free and is a really powerful grading platform. It’s definitely fun once you get the hang of it — but it takes time to learn how to use properly and effectively. Tons of youtube videos out there to learn — Casey Faris does great tutorials

  5. I render much higher than what youtube recommends. Something like 20mbps, 2-pass 5.1 high profile. Youtube will crunch it more, but I like to give them something nice to start with.

  6. I love videos like this. I do a ton of photography at conventions and getting to see how other people deal with the logistical challenges working at these sort of events is really interesting to me.

Thanks for sharing guys, can’t wait until content starts coming in from comic con.

  7. These videos have always been some of my favorite from Tested! As someone who is very interested in video production who has yet to take the plunge I love seeing the BTS of a site like this

  8. What kind of bizarre twilight zone is this where the camera guy looks like a male model and the nerdy guys are the stars. Only on tested.

  9. I assume you shoot with exposure of between 1/50 and 1/120, which filter are you using to prevent over exposure? Thanks.
