Since last November, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art has been home to a special travelling exhibit documenting the late Stanley Kubrick’s movies, photographs, and personal projects. That exhibition concludes at the end of this month, so I drove down to LA this past weekend to see it before it moves to its next destination (it has been on tour all around the world since debuting in Germany in 2004). Among the items on display: iconic film props, production memorabilia, camera lenses Kubrick favored, and even early scripts with Kubrick’s handwritten annotations. Gorgeous! Thanks so much for posting this! What were you shooting with BTW?
Fun fact, Adam said in a talk/interview with John Hodgman that he is working on replicating the kit seen in photos 23-26.
Cool! Thanks for the pictures!
yep, we saw the work in progress when recording the last episode of still untitled. hopefully we’ll get a chance to do a video of it.
thanks! all shot with the 6d and 50mm f/1.4 + 17-40m f/4 lenses.
These are great I wanted to go see this exhibit but I have yet to go.
I think there may be a serious bug in this gallery. When I reach picture 30, 60 and 90 going through the galley, the “next”-arrow sends me to the Blade Runner blaster gallery instead of picture 31, 61 or 91. Using the “back”-arrow to go to picture 29, 59, 89 before going forward again seems to resolve the issue…100% reproducible too, in both Chromium and Firefox.
Man, Kubrick is my favorite director by far, and I would absolutely love to see this exhibit. Too bad I live on the opposite side of the country. 🙁 Thanks for the photos at least.
The entire gallery feature is broken in a lot of different ways. Its been slowly getting better, but there are still bugs and little things that just don’t work the optimal way…
Yeah, I can confirm this with Chrome.
Looks like a great exhibit, though – I wonder if it’ll ever come to the East Coast?
sorry for the gallery bugs, guys. i’ll relay to the engineers.
as a consolation, here are the photos on flickr as well, which may show them in higher resolution: http://www.flickr.com/photos/normanchan/sets/72157634298234536/
