Ask Adam: Cosplay Costume Storage

Every week, Adam takes a question from the Tested Premium Member community in the comments section below or on social media (tagged #AskAdamSavage) and answers here. This week, Adam talks about whether he’s ever thrown away a cosplay and his solutions for costume storage in the cave!

  1. was thinking about asking this one. second part to this question though

How do you transport your costumes to cons (such as type of containers, luggage, driving or flying, etc.) ? #AskAdamSavage

  2. Hey Adam, why do you use the DeWalt bandsaw when you can just walk a few steps to your bandsaw? Seems like way more hassle to me ^^

  3. To another point on your cosplay/prop builds:

Since you so often outsource parts of your costume and prop replica builds to other respected and talented builder/fabricators, has there ever been a project which, in the end, you found you honestly had to reconsider being able to refer the build as “yours?”

  4. I also have started to use these clear front wardrobes for my cosplays after seeing the shop tour video from several years ago. They’re very reasonably priced on amazon and make organizing/transporting costumes much much easier. Obviously my collection is far smaller, but in a small living space they come in quite handy for keeping things neat and not lost to the ages.

  5. Adam – Perhaps too much an in-depth question, might be better in a podcast where you can flesh it out, but anyway…

Especially with cosplay and costuming etc, but could extend to item collecting etc. How do you draw the line between representation and accuracy and making sure we aren’t guilty of racial/cultural (mid)appropriation?

  6. not for sure by any means but in my band saw has a wood blade and it can take an age to put in the metal blade and get it true. Maybe one saw has one type of blade and one another?

As said no idea but that is my thoughts 😉

*edit* plus dewalt are great lol
