Love the video, and thank you for showing this. I moved from Harbor Freight organizers to the ArtBins after your last video, and find they work a good bit better. I did have to order extra dividers for my thin art bins, for sorting out smaller quantities of Technics parts. You commented on wanting to create a rolling storage system for the bins. Based on your last video, I did just that, a rolling tower that holds 3 deep bins, 3 medium bins, and 4 shallow bins (the top one a single-compartment thin case to hold instruction books.
I made it very similar to your case, with 3/4″ plywood sides, 1/4″ dividers, and open-center back slats rather than a full back. The box measures 16″ wide x 16 3/4″ deep x 44 1/2″ tall, and I put it on four 3″ swivel casters. The whole thing was made from salvage and offcuts I had in the shop. I finished the outside with one-step hickory stain-polyurethane, the inside with clear polyurethane, and topped it with a non-Lego but compatible 15 3/4″ square baseplate. For a collection as large as yours, I would probably recommend going cabinets each two columns wide. This would work out to 31 1/4″ or so wide, depending on the mid board thickness, and would give it a more stable footprint for rolling around. I am very pleased with my cabinet, and thank you for giving me the design concept.
Now is the really test. Can you MAKE the lego death star only using the instructions and your pieces, if you can (I did) Then thats a big lego collection!
An impressive amount of Lego. You mentioned making space in the loft. I do not recall there ever being a video of that space. We got a walk around tour of the main floor of the cave during a live stream. Can we get a tour of the loft sometime?
