Adam Savage’s King Arthur Armor Build, Part 2
How does a large flat sheet of alunimum turn into a full suit of shining armor? Like the making of a bespoke suit, it all begins with patterning. Terry measures Adam and guides him through the drawing of beautiful patterns and cutting out the raw shapes of metal by hand.

This video series is going to be EPIC!
So wonderful watching masters at work, making things look effortless.
The sheer amount of work that goes into making a cosmetic, aluminium suit is impressive. I can’t imagine how much effort it must have taken to build armor out of steel that had to protect a person’s life.
Fantastic! This is so delightful to watch 🙂
Thanks to Terry and the Tested crew for bringing us this. It’s awesome to watch Terry work and see how fluid and instinctive he is, and also the little tangents on the history of armour. Great series, guys.
that was Awesome!
I never knew how to use tin snips properly before. This was a revelation.
I was thinking of making a harness, now I’m planing it! =) Great work!
Love it…
this is awesome, love the easy teaching style, its lovely to watch.
I love watching this series because its cool to watch Adam do something from the same perspective as us. Its interesting watching him learn and do things he has no previous knowledge in. Kind of like the dovetail video from many years ago.
This series finally makes premium worthwhile
AGREED!
I you liked this, I highly recommend seeing PBS Nova episode called “Secrets of the Shining Knight”
(Nova Season 45 Ep:5, it Aired October 4, 2017 on PBS)
Finally had time to watch this. Impressive artistry.
This is amazing!! Love this series! Terry is such a master craftsman. Keep them coming!
Loving these, hate having to wait like a week between them xD
Stunning. Terry’s line work with pattern making is just beautiful.
This is definitely what I became a premium member for. Terry is clearly and evidently a master craftsman.
I play piano and therefore have some sizable finger strength, so that forearm muscle is familiar to me. Terry’s is downright scary.
I was certain that Adam was going for A Knight’s Tale reference with “I have been measured.” “You have been weighed; you have been measured; and you have been found wanting.” Obviously, I was wrong.
Good start so far. Why doesn’t he use a sheet metal nibbler? Would save a ton of time and soreness.
Amazing. Lots more like this please!
I thought the same about the Knight’s tale reference 😀
I wondered about what kind of specialized muscle training you end up with after doing such work for 55 years. That comparison was crazy!
And another thing that I love about it is how excited he gets. You can tell how much passion he has for making and it’s wonderful to see that.
Absolutely gorgeous, Terry is like a wizard !
