Adam Savage’s One Day Builds: Dinosaur Skull Lamp!
One of Adam’s favorite objects in the cave is his life-size T-Rex skull, which hangs above the shop’s pool table. He’s long wanted to hide a fitted lamp inside that skull, which is today’s One Day Build! This project falls into the category of quick and dirty builds that allows Adam to work fast and cut a few corners to get the results he wants as efficiently as possible!

I can’t pretend I like the camera work. It literally gives me an actual headache and I often have to deliberately look away to stop getting dizzy.
LED tape is wonderful stuff! The build is rather nice for being a personal hack job, but I would have appreciated proper containment and strain relief for those marrettes. Electrical safety is important, possibly more so in stuff like this.
Agreed, the camera work has gotten disappointingly amateurish lately, I get that Adam isn’t easy to follow, but that compounds the discomfort.
Does anybody know what that fancy fine neck&tip marker was Adam was using?

yeah looks about right, after some googling I found one from Dixon on amazon for a reasonable price, thanks for pointing out the pica model.
Side note for all; Adam was right about Sue and her being in the field museum. She was featured in a very fun way in the urban fiction novel Dead Beat as part of the Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher.

While I was watching this video I did wonder whether a couple of red LEDs on top of the box might add an extra effect. Not sure whether it would actually help though. Might just look like a cheap effect.
I think it would be an AWESOME idea to, building off this video, have Adam build something 2 ways. One, a one day build style, theater style thing like this. Then a second follow up video where he builds the same thing as if it WAS something either he really cared about or like it was a client job. I can see some of the corners he cut, to be sure. But would he have used a totally different backing than foam core? Different material than MDF? A different diffuser? Different hardware? Less Glue so that it would be more repairable? there is a lot of that murky thought process stuff( what corners to cut by how much) that would be illuminated in a helpful and unique way by a video series like that.
