Adam Savage’s One Day Builds: Hellboy’s Samaritan Prop, Part 3!

As Adam nears the finish for his build of his scratch-built Hellboy Samaritan prop replica, he turns to the finer details of the grip and the bronze hammer. Along the way, there are decisions about the materials used that allow Adam to contribute to the mythology behind the prop, based on his interpretation of the reference sources. Adam also shows a big mistake he made in this build, and what it tooks to fix it. The Samaritan is getting close to completion!

  1. I have a question / comment.

I notice you (Adam) often refer to notes, often work out things off camara and then bring it to screen, when you spoke about putting numbers up on screen you clearly know what you are doing but seem.tk find it hard to get the order right in your head. And you scribble out the part you want to cut off to insure you don’t make meatakes.

I get a very Richard Feynman approach to things. Ie dip the rubber in the beaker of cold water rather than work out the figures on paper.

My point is I am dyslexic and really struggle with some of the same things and the strategies you use I see a lot of dyslexics also using. Great at doing and understanding but some time brain to mouth and brain to hands gets confused.

I was just wondering are yo at all dyslexic or do you see also how were some people like I suppose we all do how your mind works different and how that can be both good and bad andd the strategies you use to apply the skills you have?

    1. PS it would be nice to be able to get notification on responses and topics to email. And provide a name.

Cheers Aaron, author of the above post. 🙂

  2. Adam, you could have ast that hammer in pewter yourself! You already know how to make molds, and Mold Max 60 would work with pewter. Even if you’ve never cast with pewter before it would be a cool thing to see Adams learning process on screen.

  3. New design, but the spammers still found their way to the comments. Now they don’t have to create accounts, and there is no way to report them…

  4. How exactly would the true cross be made up of three types of wood, when surely it had two (2) pieces in its actual construction? I’m also pretty sure some of the relics are made of olive-wood, so make that four 😉
