Apparently google says October 14 is Canadian Thanksgiving. Canadian Thanksgiving is the second Monday of October, the same date as Columbus Day

I was lucky enough as a kid to live in a small village with a knife-smith. I got to see him make blades from scratch, such an amazing process. His blades were works of art and highly prized, sadly he passed away a few years ago.
You guys will have to tell me when Adam goes to the theater he likes in Columbus, OH. I will definitely be the first in line!
At 2 in the morning, watching QVC or HSN is a very bad idea. Trust me, I’ve made that mistake and I’m still trying to figure out how it’s legal to let someone buy something at that time of the morning in less than sober conditions. I think there should be a confirmation call that is like ‘are you sure you want to do this?’, but that’s just me.

Pretty sure Jean-Claude Van Damme was originally cast to be The Predator himself and wear the suit, not to be the character Dutch who Schwarzenegger played.
I believe JVCD was recast primarily because of his small stature. Arnold, Jesse Ventura, Carl Weathers and Sonny Landham were all behemoths, and Van Damme standing at 5-foot-whatever simply wasn’t intimidating or imposing enough stacked up against the cast.

If memories serves me, Jean-Claude Van Damme actually played The Predator in a few parts of the movie. Mainly the scenes where The Predator is shown with his invisibility cloak.
I think one of these scenes (that was shown later in the film), was the scene were The Predator (while cloaked) has his triple laser-weapon pointed down at the ground. He then steps over the camera (which is looking up at him) with his cloaked foot. This was just after he had just blown Mac’s brains out (played by Bill Duke)..
Faceless Adam bust was both creepy and distracting and blocking poor Norm…

Why are you not coming to Winnipeg?! You pretty much have to drive through it to get from Regina to Minneapolis anyway!! There are some pretty great restaurants here that you should probably try.
Your strike anywhere matches can be made waterproof. Its easy to do yourself. Take some nail polish, I recommend clear, and give the match a couple of dunks. The polish will keep out the water. After a strike or two on an abrasive surface the polish will be rubbed off and the match will burn like normal.

Next week Norm is aghast to learn they don’t celebrate American Independence Day in New Zealand.
I love listening to these podcasts while I’m at work. Norm’s expressions just kill me. “What?!” Like the time when Adam said “Never Say Never Again is great.” I had the exact same response at the exact same moment- LOL!
After hearing that Will has never seen Rambo, the link to Predator and the knife discussion I now have the vision in my head of Will dressed as Rambo running through the jungle (waving a large knife) yelling “Get to the choppaaa!”
Speaking of quality knives, last year an extremely nice 64 year old Russian man named Amayak Stepanyan stopped by my work to show me some of his engraving work. To say I was floored by the quality of his work would be an understatement. He pulled this very knife out and handed it to me to examine and also showed me another piece that was in mid process. Believe me when I say the picture doesn’t do it justice.
The engraved side plates on this knife are 416L stainless steel. He explained that the patterns are first cut using a chisel and hammer and then the design is refined using gravers and stones. The engraving on this particular piece took over 200 hours to do. The knife maker is a friend and neighbor of his named Owen Wood. Amayak told me Owen is probably one of the ten best knife makers in the world. I could have talked to Amayak for hours- he’s extremely gracious and humble about his work and is absolutely willing to share techniques and ideas- a true craftsman in every sense of the word.
Oh yeah- Whistler is awesome. Back when I worked in the bike industry designing mountain bike parts I got to take a nice trip all around Vancouver and Whistler. Beautiful area and really nice people.
When I was younger the Car Talk Guys did a fake bit called Save The Skeets, a fake take on Save the Whales. People started to send money in for the cause. They then had to figure out what to do with all the money that was coming in considering Skeets for those of you who dont know are clay discs used for shot gun target shooting. But people out there thought they were real dying animals.
Love the podcast, gents. I gotta say, though, the thought that there’s an A.I. commentary just waiting to be heard is a bit of a tease!

I am a new listener and I have gotten this far into this podcast it feels like I am time traveling almost.. I know and seen almost all of the movies so far, so it’s funny to hear spoiler cast’s.. However I know future and I know what is coming so I feel like listening to these archived casts is giving me a window into a world before certain event’s happen its makes me happy and sad at the same time.. I will catch up soon I refuse to listen to currant casts till I get there. However I choose now to say hi to everyone and Thank you for putting on this podcast.
About me, I work in an upholstery shop in Los Angeles, Ca. ran by my in-laws. I restarted listening to this podcast after I moved back to California from Kingsville, Tx. I currently just cut wood and assemble furniture all day another guy puts foam and stretches cloth over the wood. I listen to Kevin and Bean from when I wake up at 6a till 930a-ish then I switch to this podcast. I am spoiled till I clock out at 330p I have found zen type moment’s doing this day in and out I know I’ll catch up soon to currant. I look forward to the day have fun and again thank you guys.
