  1. Again, kudos another great podcast! It is great to have the core team back together again and i am excited for more to come. Thanks again guys and thanks Norm for sharing your experience up north!

  2. Guys, just in case you get through the place, in Mackinaw City Michigan (at the bridge between the two peninsulas) the coast guard has placed the Mackinaw, which was at one time the largest icebreaker in the world. It served from 1946 to 2006. They’re working on opening up the whole ship as a museum, it already takes about 2 hours to see the whole thing including one of the engine rooms (it has three, each with two engines that are about 16 feet long each).

The bit I think is extra cool about the Mackinaw is that it had a front prop which it used to suck the water out from under the ice so that the weight of the ice itself helped to break it.

  3. It’s great to see the gang back together again for this podcast. Hearing about the trip in this format as well as the dedicated videos was great. Seeing the beauty of the icebergs and fjords is one (wonderful) thing, but stories like this are meant to be told person to person. Keep up the great content.

  4. Really disappointed about the Emmy to Sharktank. There’s nothing redeeming or innovative in what they do. The last season of Mythbuster’s was near perfection. No doubt well into the future Mythbuster’s re-runs and reboots will remain to inspire and entertain, where others will thankfully be forgotten.

  5. Are my luddite tendencies showing? I feel like if there was internet on the ship you wouldn’t have had those “moments” with the guitars, etc.

    Die, Internet!

    Just kidding.

    Not really.

  6. Nice to see the gang back together. Adam, screw the awards. You and the team know you were making a great product as proven by the worldwide following and admiration. It might be nice to get officially recognised and get a trinket, but honestly after the awards night nobody remembers it.

One thing for the video podcast. Can we adjust the seating just a bit so we get to see Norm’s face instead of a microphone? We can see Will and Adam, but poor Norm is hidden away behind all the tech and is pretty much just a voice in the room. #freenorm #equalvisualrightsforthechanman 🙂

  7. Hey guys. Thanks for the show, it was great as always.

One thing. In the ship name (“Капитан Хлебников”) second word starts with “H”, not “K”. It is funny that “H” is being transliterated as “KH” (it often does). With this small fix, pronunciation will be perfect.

Хлеб as I recall is bread… its been a while. Odd if its named after a bread baker, I’d like to think instead its the poet as its more befitting the vessel’s current mission.

I could see how the palatalized “X” would sound like a soft or mushy “K” to most, Kudo’s to Norm for being an American who genuinely tried hard to say it correctly!

  9. If you had the time, I always thought it would be cool to take a freighter ship somewhere. It is a little cheaper than a plane ticket, but it take something like 18 days just to get to France from the east coast.

Great stories Norm, thanks for sharing! 🙂

  10. I forgot, I was going to post this on last week’s podcast. This has to do with road trips.

If any of you are ever come through Kansas, you have to stop in Hutchinson. You have to stop at the Cosmosphere, they have a very nice collection of space equipment and a Blackbird jet inside the building! http://cosmo.org/

There is also the underground salt mine, you go get to go 650ft underground! If you do go make sure you spend the extra money and take the “dark train”, everyone says it is well worth it. http://underkansas.org/
