Comic-Con Dance Party – Still Untitled: The Adam Savage Project – 7/25/17

Per tradition, we record an episode from San Diego Comic-Con! Danica joins Adam and Norm to talk about some of the things we’ve seen on the floor, parties with fellow nerds, and Adam’s incognito walks this year. Plus, a spoiler-free review of War for Planet of the Apes!

  1. Seriously Norm, thanks so much for taking the time to point out the collaboration between the actors and the animators at 34:46. The dots on the actors faces weren’t actually tracked by a computer (although they were certainly able to), but they were used to help clearly see which muscles were moving when us animators manually replicated the entire performance on the facial rig (which is controlled based on muscles). It really is a collaboration of the actor’s performance, the animator’s eye, and the director making sure we all nail it.

  2. The camera technique used on the matrix wasn’t invented by them. Unless they were also the photographers that did the chevy commercial years earlier using exactly the same camera technique. It showed a red pick up going into a large puddle and freeze while the cameras then panned around the vehicle.

  3. Bullet Time was simulated in the first Shrek movie when Fiona takes out a couple of Robin Hood’s Merry Men.

  4. Norm, got get Danica that leather Wonder Woman armor, and have her do a show and tell about it! I want to see it!

You guys mentioned in this podcast again about the Weta swordsmith, you have been bring it up here on this podcast saying that you were going to post a video of it, and I kept watching and wondering when it was going up. Just to find out now that it is a members only video, this was super disappointing! You should at least but up a short highlights video up about it. I know why you have exclusive content, you all have to make a living which is perfectly fine. But just don’t talk them up so much not making it clear it is exclusive content, it’s just disappointing for us broke people! LOL
