1. Hey Adam,

   I am a long time fan of you and your work and I have the highest respect for you, but I gotta say, this speech was a dud. You were yelling the whole time and all over the place on subject. You sounded more like a crazy uncle on a rant than one who inspires others.

   I know you “don’t read the comments”, but being famous, doesn’t automatically make everything you say interesting.

   You’re great, sometimes my spirit animal, but I gotta call you out on this one.

2. It’s a small quibble, but couldn’t we had the ad/promo during the time when Adam was searching through his notes?

   Just having the ad break randomly in the middle of the speech really took me out of the experience.

   Norm doesn’t do those promo pieces live, except during TIOAT. As far as I know. So there’s a good chance it was edited in. Which means the placement was flexible.

   Oh and yes, I addressed two teams of touch football players during a tropical monsoon downpour under a corrugated iron roof once. It went very well, thank you for your inquiry.

8. Bit Workshop Pretty sure he was talking to Dan Lantz and addressing his complaints about Adam “yelling”. As someone who has been to Bay Area Maker Faire, and tried listening to Adam speak, it was almost impossible to hear him live. I was not too far from him and the crowd noise drowned him out entirely. I actually ended up leaving before the Q&A because I knew it would be easier to listen to the end of the talk when it was posted on the site :p

10. Lantz Actually, if I remember well, he said he reads the comments only on Tested community. (of course don’t wait for an answer!)

    I really love Adam and what he does, but lately I feel too much focus on “makers” than on what they actually make!

    So much fame and personal brand gadget to sell out there. The maker’s environment is changing with all these makerStars. Not sure is a good change, just watch what happened about the cooking scene!

11. I can echo that thought. There is more focus of maker “fame” than what they make… There are a lot of maker videos out there that begin with “hey friends, I’ve been really busy lately, but I thought i’d just give you an update of what I’ve been up to…” followed by a promise of an actual build video in the future. Oh well, it is FREE CONTENT after all, I shouldn’t expect too much (or in the case of Tested, half the price of Netflix).
