Can someone provide a link to the Wright Brother’s biography that Adam mentioned? I’m having trouble finding one written by Walter Isaacson.
Maybe not yet released? I too am very interested in this and couldn’t find a mention. I’ve enjoyed vacationing near Kitty Hawk for 30+ years and love all things WB!
It is possible it is The Wright Brothers by David McCullough. Doing a search I notice that Walter Isaacson and David McCullough seem to be in a similar lane. Perhaps Adam got them mixed up?
About the different manufacturers of the RR Merlin engine, it can be said with absolute certainly that the last War time Packard version made more power with a longer TBO than the equivalent post War RR version,at a lower price!(V-1650-9 Packard made 2,218 HP with a 300 hour TBO,Vs the RR V-1650-130x’s installed in the Hornet at 2,030 HP with a 150 hour TBO a year later!) And $6,500 Vs $12,215 for the RR article!
