Episode 134 – Dudes Talkin’ About Linen – 8/9/2012

On this week’s show, Joey gets tempurpedic, Will eats a donut, and Norm doesn’t know how to properly use sheets. All that, plus the Curiosity Rover landing, the Apple/Amazon vulnerabilities, Best Buy going private, Steam selling stuff that isn’t games, and another episode of fake outtakes. Enjoy!

  1. I am a proud funder of the Ouya because I like to live ON THE EDGE.

Edit: Also show me one fat Curler compared to any baseball player. Curling is deceptively hard and more physical than you think.

  2. Sheesh, Will really has it out for Kickstarter. Part of the lack of liability is what allows it to be so open to new ideas. Sure there’s gonna be sketchy crap on there, but if you don’t research and know what you’re getting into, you probably deserve to be out $50.

  3. About the whole best buy thing. I haven’t willingly gone to a best buy since 2009. Everything is done by amazon.

I honestly hope Best Buy does go out of business. They are overpriced, unorganized and the experience of shopping there sucks.

  4. Same here. I thought it might have been my hardware as I listened to this on my iPod rather than my phone, but it is incredibly quiet for me. It was getting drowned out by road noise in the car despite both iPod and car stereo being up at full volume.

Oh, and Norm thinks YouTube on iOS is the single best way to use YouTube? Really? Really?

  5. Curiosity did not roll off a platform, the 4 cables were attached directly to the rover. Once it touched the ground and supported its own weight the 4 cables detached and the rockets went away.

  6. I don’t have a credit card attached to either of my Apple IDs so I buy stuff using iTunes gift cards which I get when they go on sale at BJs.

  7. Norm doesn’t use the top sheet on top of him? What a weirdo. But nah, I just use the comforter sometimes as well. And sometimes I just use the upper sheet if it’s hot. I used to do the leg-out thing, but I changed to pushing both feet out the bottom from the covers and staying cool what way.

I changed my sheets last night coincidentally, and I should really start using a mattress cover thing. It’s so yellow on the upper half in the center that it looks like I’ve been urinating from my back. Blegch! And I don’t use a memory foam topper anymore because they make me way too hot and stay warm for a long time. Memory foam is best for sitting on, so I rolled my topper up and shoved it into a body sized pillowcase and put it in my chair.

  8. Oh irony your name is Norm. The one thing conceded to Olympic archers was their good eyes. A world record breaking archer from these Olympics is legally blind!

Genius work all around gents on another enjoyable podcast!
