Gary clearly objected to the standard “kill ten rats” quest yet immediately dismissed Guild Wars 2, essentially the only MMO currently on the market that offers something different.
Will, I implore you to try GW2. I’ll gladly help you out. If you want to be rewarded for exploring the damn world, then GW2 is for you.
And, Eli has two rings.
Google’s navigator/maps app is amazing. I went on a 5000 mile road trip a few months ago and it was a total life saver. If I w as on the edge of the fence between the major OS players I would choose Google just for the Google services.
“It looks pretty, works bad.” Isn’t that the very definition of the iPhone / iOS?
Also I’m getting a big kick out of the Apple apologism.
Poor Norm licking all those dirty envelopes 🙁 Glad to have Gary back!
I don’t even care about the Apple discussions anymore, we all know what the guys think about Apple products. Gary the Apple apologist. I get entertained by the other parts of the podcast.
What was the street name for the sticker thing? “Brandon” or “Brannan”? Norm said it a little mumbley.
I wonder how long until Gary turns around on larger screen phones once he finally uses the 5.
brannan
Alright, which one of you was using the Star Trek doorbell sound thingy on their phone? I kept checking my phone, I thought it was mine.
This episode left me with a very important question, does Norman watch Gossip Girl?
I just watched that Samsung Galaxy S3 commercial, and I honestly didn’t see why Gary hated it so much; especially considering how terrible the normal android commercials are.
They made good points and the NFC was more then just sharing a playlist.
Oh well, doesn’t really matter, just my opinion…. That iPhone 5 is a nice piece of hardware.
I’m going to get this out of the way up front: I’ve never once complained about the amount of Apple discussion on this podcast since listening to it from day one. That said, this episode featured a disappointingly large amount of it, from Norm’s downright salesmanship to a general vibe that neared apologism.
And what’s with starting to play a question, actually pressing play and all, only to immediately stop it 2 seconds in because it was 90 seconds long? That really can’t be tolerated on a podcast that sometimes nears 3 hours, in which you rarely play more than 2 questions? And then you even proceeded to Fake Outtakes after, plainly revealing you didn’t skip the question because of any sort of time constraints. Heck, I didn’t even make the question, but it still burns my britches a bit, and I’d be pissed if I was the dude who did.
Otherwise good episode, though.
Hilarious fake out takes this week. Also, bring podcast equipment to New York!
I don’t mind the Apple talk. It’s probably the biggest Apple related launch of the year after all. I do wish one of them would take one for the team and switch over to Android so we could get better comparison talk.
I still get a chuckle when Norm and Gary flat out ignore Will and talk about what they want.
My mother, father, and sister all use Android phones. I promise you that none of them has any opinions on Apple. They have them because it was at the store and available with their carriers. The marketplace is very different from outside the tech sector.
I liked the samsung commercials quite a bit, though I guess I like them in a mean way. Hardcore apple fans are really quite annoying, so seeing a national ad making fun of them is great. It’s not like samsung is going to change the mind of anyone who’s actually offended by the commercial — they’re all too invested in apple to change now.
And I really don’t see it as further dividing consumers by which brand they buy. Quite the opposite in fact, I think it points out how ridiculous it is to be so invested in company that you’re willing to wait in line every year for an expensive upgrade.
I’m pretty sure that the main reason why Apple left NFC out of the current iPhone is so that they can have a new feature to include in next years model.
That first article definitely needed a tl;dr, but thanks for the cool info 🙂
