Podcast - This Is Only a Test

Episode 130 – SimCity Bus Rules – 7/12/2012

  1. If Apple is Wayne Enterprises, would Steve Jobs’ be Batman?

So.. Steve isn’t dead…? And is cleaning up crime in Cupertino?

  2. This podcast is so one percent at times it’s unbearable. Yes, Will, only hobos don’t have food processors.

  3. The FCC has an 8-year program to increase the accuracy of location data associated with emergency calls. As of right now, using a smartphone (GPS enabled device) and major service provider, you are highly likely to be transmitting a fairly accurate location along with your emergency call. This is conditional though, and depends (among other things) on the call originating in an area with reasonably updated service equipment. If everything is in order, the system can take care of itself, and route your call to the proper PSAP.

I’ve used dumbphones for most of my life so this may very well be outdated tech advice, but in my opinion you should have your local 911 call center direct line number programmed into your cell. Two numbers (both work and home locales) if applicable in order to avoid service delays. I would trust the technology to solve this problem if the situation were not (well… by definition) an emergency. Most emergency calls are made from wireless devices, and for my money it’s best to know my call will reach its intended destination without any foreseeable delay.

If you cannot find the number using Google, ask a friendly local law enforcement officer, they are likely to know.

  4. You guys all F’d up. If you don’t know the height for certain, you need an adjustable standing desk with motorized adjustment, You’re going to be miserable if the desk height isn’t right. The motor also allows you to immediately convert to a sitting desk if needed.

  5. So if Will is Tested’s equivalent to Jeff Daniels on The Newsroom, does that mean that Norm is Tested’s Olivia Munn? Time to get out your hot dogs.

  6. I enjoyed Joey on the podcast! He joins in on the conversation enough so he’s not too quiet or dominating. Love to see him as a regular in a 4 man gang!
