  1. Good morning and thank you boys, another great talk with needed information. Can’t wait for the Dad’s episode.

  2. Will’s not here, he’s in Sweater Town.

Yo-Gabba-Gabba, created by Christian Jacobs AKA MC Bat-Commander of The Aquabats! I’m a fan of the Scottie Dog!

This show is rife with inaccuracy! Stamps that come on sheets 2 wide have a flat side, have flat sides from where the sheets are cut before they’re scored. Not for anti-counterfitting.

Coulton’s music was under Creative Commons NON-COMMERCIAL use with attribution. It’s not like this is the first time they’ve done this. They also stole the very distinct Nouvelle Vague cover of Dancing with Myself. And Coulton isn’t keeping the money from his re-release “in the style of Glee” he’s donating it all to charity. Pollock are the fish used in Fillet-O-Fish.

  3. Hey Will – Dad/cartoon idea – The Backyardigans, my child loved them. It’s good, fun, non Barney related toons.

  4. I don’t watch football, but I imagine that the recent Superbowl is the definition of a good game. An early blowout followed by a comeback in the second half. I would assume that’s the kind of tension that people want to see in a game.

  5. Ho, Brad!

Note on the Boy Scouts: I agree with Will. I am an Eagle Scout, and I don’t think the organization’s stance on homosexuality is indicative of the overall quality of the institution. I am proud and thankful for all that I learned in the Scouts, and it’s worth mentioning that segregation had nothing to do with any of the lessons I learned. It’s unfortunate that there are a bigoted few at the top — I believe they are wrong and the rules should be changed, I support the BSA 100% and I hope they don’t lose too much face with liberal America because of all this.

  6. Does Brad’s voice sound deeper on the TIOAT than the bombcast? I think the bombcast mixers mixers push brad more into the midtones.

Or maybe I’m crazy. Or both!

  7. Brad yay!!

So Will wanted to use Brad to show that iOS is different now. Hm… Notifications and multitasking doesn’t make a good argument. I still hate stupid rows of icons.

  8. “Is this gonna be locked behind Gold?” HAHAHAHA. Will you are hilarious.

Anyways, while environment maybe important, exclusives are still one of the main things that will differentiate the PS4 and nextbox720winphone8metroxbox. I know that I’m stuck with Microsoft unless Polyphony manages to unfuck Gran Turismo. Everything I want to play is on PC now except Forza so I’ve already resigned myself to the next Microsoft console unless they do something incredibly stupid with it.

  9. All the “good” games appearing in Target is partially thanks to the Geek&Sundry channel, and WIl Wheaton’s show on there, TableTop. A lot of the games probably have a sticker “as seen on Geek&Sundry”

  10. I thought you could Airplay video to the Boxee Box. I don’t have an iPad anymore to test but I’m pretty sure I used to push videos to my Boxee by hitting the airplay icon when supported.

  11. re: old timey irons. I infer just from a couple of years of using the site that my parents & grandparents are about the same age as Will’s. My grand parents used one of those old irons in the 50s and early 60s too. Is was still in the house when we were kids, it was copper or brass and awesome looking.

I think the reason we still had that stuff here was the war. It’s probably easy for Americans to gloss over just how impactful WW2 was in Europe. It was a phenomenally expensive thing to be involved in if you were still paying for WW1, started fighting in 1939 and had to rebuild all the cities that got bombed after the war ended. We still had rationing until 1954. The economy was fucked over here while America was positively booming.

  12. The Nexus 4 talk was amazing. I got a Nexus 4, my SIM card wont work in it, lets talk about jailbreaking iOS 6 for three minutes instead and move on. 😛

  13. Brad complained he doesn’t have enough HDMI ports on his TV for his consoles and an AppleTV, and Norm suggested using an AV receiver. It’s definitely one solution, if you happen to need an audio solution as well.

But how about the much cheaper alternative of an automatic HDMI switch? You could get one from DX.com for under 10$. (I recently got one, and it works like a charm.)

  14. Yeah, the fifties here sucked by all accounts. It wasnt really until the sixties where the UK got back on it’s feet after the war. Then we had the swinging sixties.

Oh, and Jaffa Cakes. Jaffa Cakes are awesome. They are basically tiny sponge cakes with chocolate and orange jelly on top. They are the size and shape of a cookie, but taste nothing like you would initially expect. If Gary has a supply at his house then you should steal one.

  15. Really great this week. I enjoyed Brad’s take on iOS. On the Boy Scout issue. I left the scouts after my friend was forced to leave because he came out. I enjoyed my time with the organization but its now totally broken. I will be keeping my kids out of the Boy Scouts.
On a side note a co-worker over heard the conversation about the Raspbery Pi and is now listening to your back log of podcasts.

  16. I feel similarly to the Marine Corps. I’m gay, and I’ve been working my ass to join the Corps since I was 16 (now 19). Even though when I first decided to join and took the first steps to enlist I knew I couldn’t be open about my sexuality, the whole was greater than one flaw. I continue to actively pursue enlistment, and can not wait to be a Marine. Being able to be open and honest about my sexuality is a nice bonus, but Don’t Ask Don’t Tell didn’t take away from my desire to enlist nor my pride for the Marines and Soldiers around me.

My only thing to add is that it shouldn’t be legal for any such policy to exist. In fact, it ISN’T and that more isn’t being done is very disappointing. It’s a little harder to understand this sort of policy in something for children than something that was born more out of worries concerning combat effectiveness. But, I know kids who never experienced any of that bullshit in the Boy Scouts. Doesn’t mean the problem isn’t there, but as with most things, there isn’t an easy, absolute answer. I live in Washington state, so it’s no surprise that no one I knew ran into this kind of ignorance in the Boy Scouts.

If you ask me, the Government needs to grow some balls. There is some pretty clear abuse of employment rights, and it’s bordering on refusing service for discriminatory reasons. I’m not lawyer, but considering there are fee’s involved, shouldn’t it be illegal to discriminate against any willing customer based on something like sexual orientation (or even more ridiculous, the sexual orientation of your freakin’ parent’s)? Or at least borderline illegal?

  17. Finally got around to listening to this, great episode. The beginning error-recap should be a regular feature 😉 “Rant-Recant”?

  18. William Daniels aka KITT was also in St Elsewhere (You know it as the show that happened in the snowglobe that everything references, Norm).

  19. You guys sound like you’ve never seen Jeffry Tambor in a mustache. Haven’t you seen The Larry Sanders Show? It used to be on Netflix streaming, but doesn’t seem to be anymore (edit: It looks like it’s on Amazon Prime streaming though). Hank Kingsley was the best character of the show.
