  1. google playstore actually detects your android version and automatically instals the last version of the app supported by your os. It’s really great

  2. Love the Norm’s law of the sky ! Would try to grab tones of things ! And I can’t wait for some people to learn to fly !!!!! 🙂

  3. Was the restaurant with the $75 appetizers an outright scam place? Meaning no locals, hidden prices, touts trying to lure tourists in, etc.

  4. I wish there was a brief timeline for the topics of discussion on this podcast so I could easily skip any discussion about Apple products, mobile phones, cameras, etc.

  5. Hey Norm, Native New yorker here….born and raised….if you and Will want to try an awesome place for dinner, you guys should check out this restaurant in the west village called Takashi’s. I used to go all the time ’cause my brother worked there for a while. The food is amazing and a bit wierd but its definitely a cool place.

  6. Hey guys, I would just like to say that I have an iPhone 4 and I upgraded to iOS 7 as soon as I could and so far I haven’t experienced any issues with it. Everything is running smoothly for me. It could just be that my phone is only 3 months old but I have wiped my phone completely, installed iOS 7, then reapplied all my apps, music, and settings and everything is running great for me.

  7. I feel like the hosts of this show are ill equipped to talk about older versions of hardware because they are always buying and using the latest thing and don’t really have any idea what that experience of having something 4-5 years old is like.

Having bought a 3GS for myself 18 months ago and a 3GS for my wife a month ago, I can say that for 90% of what we use our devices for, it’s totally fine. What’s crucially missing (for us) from the 3GS is a better camera, dictation, and better location sensing technology which ends up restricting how you can use some apps.

But it’s totally fine and for 90% of what we do with our phones it’s never an issue.

I’m actually glad that I can’t update to iOS7 on my 3GS because I don’t like the way it looks at all. Now I just have to figure out how to keep my ipad3 from updating.

As far as the app conversation goes, it’s nice to have the support even though Apple would much prefer that I break my budget and buy something newer.

It’s pretty obviously slower for me. The numbers quoted by Ars and others match my experience. Admittedly, I didn’t do a clean install, but I somewhat doubt that would make it substantially better.

  9. When you outlaw Harriers only outlaws will have Harriers. Seriously, what’s wrong Harriers? It’s not like it’d come with guns and bombs.

  10. Thanks for using my outro, albeit unintentionally. I’m not sure if you liked it, but I think that was more or less the result I was going for. Meta indeed.

  11. I don’t doubt you’ll come to this conclusion on your own, but figured I’d say it anyway. I think it doesn’t make sense to get another Windows Phone device for the site until 8.1 launches early next year. Other than the camera stuff Nokia is doing, there’s been nothing new and will be nothing majorly new for WP8 this year.

Windows Phone 8.1 = massive update to notifications, and probably/hopefully Cortana.

  12. Hey, I didn’t see you guys there. I had a booth in the hackerspace area. Did you guys get a chance to see everything?

  13. I don’t know if all BSA councils work this way, but at ours we can’t just go in and buy badges. You have to fill out an advancement report for each scout before you can buy the badge.

  14. Love the Norm’s law of the sky ! Would try to grab tones of things ! And I can’t wait for some people to learn to fly !!!!! 🙂

Struck my funny bone pretty hard as well. Good stuff 😀 Good podcast this week.
