With respect to the DLP HMD, that “reflected light” business sounds like total bullshit. Reflecting direct light in a mirror doesn’t change its color, intensity, polarization, or anything else relevant besides its angle. The thing that differentiates indirect lighting from direct lighting is that with indirect lighting the light is scattered and diffused. Even if there is an evolutionary preference for indirect lighting (which I find dubious) bouncing a laser off a mirror and directly into your eye does not qualify.

After hearing them totally downplay the difference in resolution between 720p and 108p I’m done with Tested for good. There’s a minimum level of competence I expect out of the people who work for a tech site, and they fell well below that.
No one who hooks their PC up to a 40+ inch TV does so just to play in 720p which they could have done with a much cheaper console. Almost all PS4 games being in native 1080p is a big step forward because displaying a game at a panel’s native resolution is always much preferable to relying on a scaler to stretch out 720p or less worth of pixels to fit on a 1080p screen.

When I had my PC hooked up to my TV, I didn’t really care at what resolution I was playing games at. 720 vs 1080 wasn’t that big of a deal from the couch. As long as the HUD is big/clear enough, it’s fine.
Using the desktop at 720 would be awful, though.

It’s all preference man. I think that it’s easier to ignore 720p on the couch because either your TV is big enough that either way aliasing is an issue or you’re far away enough that the difference isn’t HUGE. 720p isn’t the end of the world. And keep in mind, if you think the last generation was ever 720p, you have a totally skewed idea of what 720 is. Because that was more like 540p.
