  1. Beats might be shit, but damn do those things sell. It is only a dumb move to people who care what their music sounds like, the dicks who blast music on the bus from purple beats headphones do not, but they have drug money to burn.

  2. It takes me all of 5 minutes to register my Kayak every 3 years, I don’t see why it would be a big deal to register a quad as long as it is an easy process.

  3. thats actually the old woob woob intro, from right before the new site launched.

I did not know that. Thanks! 😉

  4. If part of their advertising was false and helped boost sales for years, it won’t help if some of it turned out to be true later. They still used false advertising and unproven claims. I havent read about the trial either, but if they had a doctor testify that the shoes could result in the bone-loss from activity promoted in that advertising, there is probably a strong case.

Now, the guys seemed to think that Vibram were in trouble as a result of this settlement, but I’m pretty sure they’ll be fine. While the FiveFingers shoes are what they are known for, the company has been around for a long time and they provide soles for a very wide range of shoe-manufacturers. While a PR nightmare for the FiveFingers shoes themselves, it isn’t a fatal blow to the parent company by a long shot. The market for refunds is niche at best.

  5. Any vertical rotor is subject to VRS or Vortex Ring State. Also known as “powered descent”, a state where you are descending but applying power to climb.

One of the early VTOL V22 Ospreys crashed as the crew were not familiar with how the aircraft ‘talks’ to you when this is happening or how to get out of it. Best advice is not to get into this situation. But if you have to descent vertically, descend at a slow and fixed rate that will prevent the down-wash from rolling over back down through the rotors. That rate will vary. Failing that, descend with some translation so you’re always biting clean air.

  6. That is an awesome intro! Just look at Will’s face #HappyAsShit, and then the expressions Norm and Jeremy have #bewilderedbeyondbelief. How can i get this on to my iphone as a ringtone or something?!.

  7. yep its from when they were filming the podcast from Will’s kitchen. He had a on going feud with a squirrel attacking his bird feeder….. those old episodes are classic…. definitely worth watching

Thanks, Stephen. I plan on watching a few of those older shows sometime this weekend.. 😉

    .

I was kind of pleasantly surprised to see Will actually wearing a watch! It looks good on you,

  8. I can’t see the beats thing not happening considering how much reporting/coverage it’s getting. And it makes sense even if it’s just so they can get the streaming service.

  9. Haha oh wow Norm’s face when Will is talking about getting dirt between his feet and sandals. This is why Norm will never be a bona-fide tent reviewer.

  10. I am totally for a licence and registration for aircraft over a certain weight if that means (theoretically) responsible people can fly without having to deal with “the man”. When’s the crash footage getting posted?

Sapphire glass isn’t going to hurt iphone sales. Lets be realistic, apple fanboys who upgrade their phone every year aren’t doing it because there’s tiny scratches on the screen!

  11. What is the problem, rc choper have been around for how long?
And that have worked fine, what is the problem now.

  12. The problem now is the rise in popularity and therefore increased media exposure. It used to be quite under the radar (excuse the pun) but just like the move from dial-up BBS’s to the internet, when enough people start doing it, the policy makers want to make a name for themselves and get a piece of the pie.

  13. I am not sure how it is in other places, but were i live (Sweden) there is not much media exposure

    exept from tech sites.

I dont think the flying itself is such a big problem, but the abilty to capture video and photo might become the thing they want to control/limit.

  14. The media exposure will explode after the first high-visibility accident, or someone’s FPV flies over a limo and next day’s papers will say “Senator’s car harassed by drone” or something.

Here in CZ they just made big changes to the civil law. One such change basically states that if you want to take a picture of someone, you have to get their permission or they can sue (which as far as I know is counter to every else outside of North Korea). Obviously it is designed to protect the miscreants (the politicians that can’t keep their sticky fingers out of dubious pies), but it has huge knock-on effect for civil rights, and also for FPV toting RC flyers.
