  1. I love how Will was just itching for Norm to stop talking about his trip to Disney, and to get on to more important things – that being the fact that there is a lander now sitting on a comet. 😄

  2. There actually was a looping wooden roller coaster, it was the Son of Beast at King’s Island in Ohio. Can see the ride here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9AU1TdhP6e0 The loop itself actually had a metal frame but the rest of the coaster was wooden. It was also the tallest and fastest wooden coaster in the world.

Sadly it was torn down a few years ago because it had a lot of problems. Wooden coasters just can’t handle the speeds it would hit (78+ mph!) and it was constantly in need of maintenance. They also removed the loop some years after it opened in an attempt to make it less problematic, but ultimately it was closed and torn down.

I had a chance to ride it long ago while it still had the loop and unfortunately the dream of a fast looping wooden coaster is far better than the reality. It shook so much it physically hurt and really wasn’t fun to ride at all.

  3. There’s a sound like someone scratching their head, all through this. Apart from that, great show. Oh, also, not so interesting to hear about services you can only get in the US.

  4. I’ve been to Silver Doller City. Outlaw run goes upside down three times and has a few of the records for wooden coasters. It’s really ridiculouse that they are able to make an old school wooden coaster go upside down.

  5. Norm was pretty good with his facts, but I’m pretty sure that Tower of Terror at DCA was never an up charge attraction.

Also, in the past few years there have been multiple wooden coasters built with inversions. It’s kinda the popular thing to do right now in the coaster industry.

  6. I hate to be, “that”, person but if you have the money to afford $2900, then another $500 on top does not seem like it would be a problem. If the $500 is too much, then rethinking spending $2900 might be a good idea.

On that note… Do you know if there are insurance plans for drones. They seem to be expensive on the “toy” front. I am sure that people who are using them in a professional application have their own business insurance that covers their equipment.

  7. For the guy who asked about things to do in SF, even though I am from Portland, OR, here is what I would say. Check out the SanFran section on Reddit because it is super helpful. Also Adam&Jamie have an episode of Mythbusters where they talk about their favorite places to go shopping in SF, it is a really helpful guide. I would also go to China Town, good luck parking in that area of town but I would not skip it.

  8. I’m probably just a tool, but are there show notes for this episode. The gang ripped through cool SF attractions and I’d love to get them in list form. And I’m from the Bay Area, but I hadn’t heard of all of these!

  9. You guys, there’s a game room set up in Vancouver in Canada and they have the clues change very often and some are the same objects but importance changes so even when you try again you can fail.

highly suggest it if you are up North.
