  1. Title for the Queen’s IT… QuIT…

Also, it would be awesome to be able to sign in without leaving this page.

EDIT Originally posted at 1:10 into the pod cast; after listening further, if you rework it just a bit you can make the star quit instead of fired…

  2. I feel like there’s a name involving “Changing of the guard” but I can’t figure out the pun.

    How about queen123 ?

  3. Todd save the Queen.

TJ Miller plays Todd the quirky hipster hacker/IT guy who after hacking into the palace CCTV network etc etc gets offered a job to be the royals IT guy and much hijinks and heartfelt life moments ensue.

  4. Union Jack:

TJ Miller plays Jack, a genius IT-guy who gets headhunted from a top San Francisco startup to Buckingham Palace when the Queen’s long-time, Bletchley-boffin IT-guru (played by Stephen Fry) gets electrocuted while running cables to the servant’s quarter to comply with EU workplace-regulations.

After quickly drawing the ire of the tightly-wound Lord Steward of the Household (played by Colin Firth), Jack must seek the help of the Queen’s niece’s valet (Sir Ian McKellen’s) who gives his all in teaching Jack the etiquette required to stay afloat in this arcane world. Through his relationship with Sir Ian’s character, Jack quickly finds himself enamored by Vicky, the Queen’s niece (Blunt), but she is engaged to be married to the wealthy banker Toby (Cumberbatch).

One day, Jack accidentally accesses restricted files, a mistake that could cost him his job if uncovered, but in the process he also stumbles onto a plan that could shake the very foundations of the Monarchy!

    Tagline: “Root that guy!”

  5. The swan thing is actually very funny. There is a book from a german author Tommy Jaud called “Millionär” (in english millionaire) In this book he tells a story of a guy qho wants to become rich. This guy reads a story in the paper about someone who threatens to eat a cute bunny (or something) if he doesn’t get money.

The guys idea is not to do the same with a swan. He abducts one from the local park und makes a video, where he threatens to eat the swan if he doesn’t get money.

But his trick doesen’t work for two reasons. Swans are a**holes they attack everything what comes near them an nobody actually likes them. And the more important thing is: Swans don’t taste. The taste sluggish and oily and are stopped being eaten. In the story many people make fun of the guy and he stops this plan.

  6. For shame. Jeremy is a fine cohost. He’s much more of a maker and tinkerer compared to Gary’s everyman but both fit the bill for the guest spot perfectly.

  7. Her Majesty’s Tech Support

    Royal Hack)

Also, the prequel could be about helping the Old Lady play games in… The Royal Wii.

    … I’m here all week.

  9. man… i just love how you guys just bounce off each other. i never would have imagined that i would admit that i missed these guys constantly interrupting each other. there’s just an energy thats so contagious.

i couldnt contain my glee when i saw the title of this weeks podcast

  10. As someone born in the final years of the 1990’s im glad i am in this period of time. I am big on seeing all of the new technology being developed and im excited to see what comes in the future, and im also happy to have seen then end of some of the more primitive technology. Im old enough to remember and watch the evolution of video from VHS to DVD to BluRay to MP4 and now to streaming media. I get to see the origins or at least beginnings of something cool and watch it grow. Im glad to have the experience of life before touch screens, its like i get to grow with technology. Now i get to watch the development of technology that 5-10 years ago was only an idea in a SciFi movie. I do honestly feel bad for children born in the last 5 years. While life is made easier and more fun, they wont know what it was to go about your day without having some sort of device at your side.

  11. Todd Save the Queen… really. It sounds fine but it’s kinda 90’s-ish, like What About Bob? or something like that. That title has to already be taken anyway.

The Windsor.com guy may be on the right track tho. Maybe some sort of variation like Queen.com or /majesty something within that realm of thought

  12. High Tea, say it aloud and make sure you enphasis the I and the T….

Main character must also be smoking some weed now and then. Yet another great story arc ready to be woven into the plot if you ask me

  13. Glad to have Gary back on, it’s been waaaay too long. I still pine for the old WANGcast days.

Been feeling really uncomfortable all month too as Gary has been staying about a ten minute walk from where I work and I secretly hoped I’d bump into him in the street at some point just so I could do the “Hi, I listen to you on the podcast” thing before running away after running out of things to say*. The Star Wars talk always has me feeling strange because I am from the same town as Gareth Edwards. I’m pretty sure he went to the same school as my wife did, albeit a few years apart.

Gary I will say you missed a trick by not grabbing coffee at the legendary Bar Italia just off of Leicester Square. Immortalised in song by Pulp and the place where the world’s first television demonstration happened, they do a mean espresso. Any Tested users who are in London should swing by if they get the chance.

*actually not true, I’d have just shook your hand and said I was a fan of your work. I’m not a nutter.

  14. Man, I didn’t know how much I missed Gary till he came back after the long absence. I’ll definitely look out for Abomination on monday!

If you’re counting Happy Hours I love this one – Whiskey Media: Happy Hour 12/03/10

You rapscallions got into some shenanigans in that basement for sure! Also, you did three or four blindfold segments which made this one hard to find!

  15. I know this movie is a joke but by the end I was aching to see this masterpiece.

Also, I saw defending your life as a kid and loved it but for some reason I always remembered Billy Crystal in the lead roll instead of Albert Brooks.

  16. Radio Shack is (was?) owned by Tandy Leather. The term “radio shack” comes from ham radio and that’s where they started – selling ham radio kits and parts and such. It really will be tough for makers not having a place to go browse electronic components.

  17. Man, Millar does almost nothing buy juvenile, and occasionally offensive, comics. A booby-trapped vagina is just one notable example (from Nemesis). The ideas are usually interesting and his artists are always super amazing, but the work is usually just crude.

He also has a really bad habit of jacking up the prices of the last issues of a series knowing full well you will buy it to read the ending. It’s such a cynical move.

That said, Starlight was actually really good!

  18. I’d like to volunteer the title BuckIT which I came up with even though I like almost all of the other suggested titles better. Thanks for a great podcast.

  19. I’m so woefully behind on these (job promotion meant no longer able to watch videos while I work) that Gary was still a regular the last time I watched one of these. I am current on the rest of the site content though, just way behind here. For some reason I felt like sharing that. Carry on.

  20. “God Save the Queen” where Save is a floppy disc icon.

I second the bag of raccoons talk as one of the top TIOAT moments. I was running on the treadmill at the time and almost fell off from laughing too hard.

  21. On Her Majesty’s Secret Servers (ba-dum TSH)

    There’s also:

“His Server to Serve Her” or “From Server to Serve Her”

“He, She, and the Royal IT”

  22. At some point someone on tumblr has to tell the queen to check her privilege

    Movie titles:

    #Royal

    Royal Privilege

    The Royal Network

  23. User molly7127 on YouTube proposed ‘Technically Royal’.

Great to see Gary back he really brings the podcast to another level of awesome. I was thinking a bond rip off would be great… “The IT guy who loved me”. But Technically royal is classic.

  24. I’m really not surprised radioshack went out of business. I had to buy a ten dollar Mac charging adaptor (on Black Friday none the less), and while I was in the store my brother had a quick conversation about upgrading his iPhone. The Black Friday deal was to spend ten dollars and get a free pair of gloves. You also got five dollars off if you asked about phone upgrade eligibility and let them run the number through the computer, so we ended up leaving with the adaptor and capacitive touch gloves for five dollars.
A guy did come in while we were there and buy two giant rc trucks though.

  25. “Keep calm and click next”

    “me”

    “The queen’s tweet” (like the king’s speech…?)

“You won’t believe what happens next…” (or “One didn’t believe what happened next…”)

    “Such royal, much wow!” 😀

  26. “King Ralph meets Hackers” really should have been the name of this podcast, Will.

Here’s my stab at the film title: IT OBE

  27. I sincerely want to see this movie get made, it sounds ludicrous and amazing. If it becomes a thing, I’d love to contribute on the audio end.

Here’s my current list of titles, but chances are this will be eating at my brain for a week and I’ll be back with more:

    The Queen’s Tweet

    iCrown

    Buck I.T.

Elizabeth IT (II) – in text this comes across poorly, but it would look SWEET on the poster!

    High Speed Queenection

    Queen’s Ping

    High.T.

Buckingham Broadband (Maybe in that one we could put a spin on it and the queen could be in an all-female British punk band! Oh! And she should have some super hilarious talking corgie sidekicks!!… for the kids…)

    Buckingham Password

    Elizabeth 2: Electric Boogaloo

    Her Majesty’s Meat Pies

    #hermajesty

    Networkingham Palace

    Royal Router

Queen Ethernet I (Queen Ethernet, too?)

    Trendingham Palace

    The Queen’s Feed

    The Royal Network

…Ok, I should probably get on with my day.

  28. You see, because “eye” and “tea” -> IT.

    Oh, forget it…

I swear to god that my wife posted this last week!

    I give you:

    The IT specialist!

    Bam!

  29. Hi,
for the movie i would suggest to make it a ugly ducklin it-girl and then pump it up to a real my fair Lady story

  30. Can’t believe this is so hard to name.

    The Queen’s Geek

    Knights of the Router Table

    Tea Time with Tech Support

  31. Movie titles:

    Crown Support

    Downing Time

(Yes, I know the latter is the Prime Minister’s office, not the Queen’s 🙂 )

  32. — Elizabeth on Rails

    — The Latency of Queen Elizabeth

    — Farewell, My Queen 2: Connection Lost

    — Elizabeth ][.0

    — Taken 4: That Username is Unavailable, Please Choose Another

    and of course…

    — #ELIZABETH (alternate Tumbler-friendly title which would be fun to hear people try to pronounce: #ELZBTH)

I apologize for all of these.

  33. Titles for the movie:

    • The Royal Network
    • How The Queen Got Her WiFi Back
    • Mr Smith Goes To Buckingham (Will should play the lead for this one to work)
    • Corgis And The Nerd
  34. Great podcast guys!

    Movie title: “The Royal WEEE”

WEEE as in “Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive”

  35. The enemies in the doctor who set are the weeping angel, cyberman, and a dalek.

Norm’s eyes got so big during the sponsor time lol!

  36. Yes! That’s the first thing that popped into my head and I think it’s pretty great.

I reckon High.T with maybe the i and t being different colours to the rest. Or it could be “The High.T Service”.

  37. Titles!

    Dr. NOPE

    From Reddit with Love

    GoldClicker

    Trackball

    You only Spawn Twice

    On Her Majesty’s Secret Server

    QWERTY is Forever

    To Live and Let Frag

The Man With the Golden Mouse

    The Spy Who Text Me

    Mnemonic

    For Your ID10T Only

    8 Cat Gifs

    The WWW is not Enough

    Tomorrow Never DDOS

    Quantum of Scripts

    Skynet of Corgies

And I’m done. Can’t come up with anything else funny right now. 🙂

  38. thank you Gary for “defending your life” I saw that move as a teen and loved the film as well as the idea of it. I just never knew what it was called.

I keep thinking of the scene where the next plane people have different tastes/food to the recently dead people, and relate it back to my acquired tastes of things I hated as a kid.

  39. Oh man that was awesome. back on the pod feels so good. I miss him totally going off on tangents and tangents on tangents. Feels like comfort food.
