  1. As substitute podcasts I want to see all the clips where Norm mispronounced Kevin Feige’s name or speculated about movies that turned out completely differently.

  2. The latest Unreal is being made with the community, I’ve never seen a game made in that way. Anyone can download and play I believe, you just need the Unreal Engine launcher and it’s there in one of the tabs

  3. I think Kishore and Jeremy should totally carry on the podcast with Norm away. Could throw up some classics as well as, assuming content will be a bit light for those weeks anyway.

  4. Just saw a trailer for Luke Cage and the “Spike Lee” thing clicked! Alfre Woodard, from Crooklyn, Frankie Faison, from Do the Right Thing, some very Lee-ish camera moves and lighting… this looks so amazing.

  5. haha, the outro is gold! and boy, does human tissue test rig animals sound surreally dystopian scifi. O_O

other than that, i agree with you folks when it comes to criticising US coverage of big sport sevents like world cups, olympics, etc. – even through the proxy of social media, it’s insufferable. it’s as if the entire point is to endlessly retell the US narrative(tm), not reporting a sports event.

as for quake champions: i’m super unimpressed. not only is the design incredibly forgettable – just the same overgreeblied mess we get in every film and every game – the movement doesn’t look quake-ish at all. it’s slow as molasses, and floaty.

here’s some proper gameplay for speed/movement reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHhe_LE00XU (q3 cpma, duel, hal9k on aerowalk)

  6. I would also prefer new episodes over old content, having Will back in your absence would be nice too!

So far for the Olympics I’ve been watching the live streams through nbcolympics. Mostly archery and fencing finals. Foil is the most fun to watch, it has the right mix of action between touches. Epee starts out a little on the slow side, and the touches in Sabre happen super fast. And they play the Imperial March before the gold medal matches!

As for fencing technology: they’ve been using electronic scoring for quite some time, but up until the ’04 Olympics the fencers were tethered by the cables for the system. The ’04 Olympics was the first time a wireless system was used. The system uses a conductive shirt, and the foils have buttons on the ends. (Except for Sabre, where it’s just the conductive shirt)

As for sports I’m looking forward to, Trampoline and the Modern Pentathlon, which is fencing round robins on day 1, and day 2 consisting of: swimming, horse jumping, fencing eliminations, and finally running and shooting with a staggered start based on points earned in the previous events.

  7. Modern pentathlon is totally a fun trip – supposedly based on the skills a cavalry officer would need. I’m going to try and stream it too.

  8. So, why would you need batteries or wire for all this tracking? If you have a well designed system, it could track simple fiducial markers applied as stickers (and of course registered somehow). Sell them by the strip, then do some good software that lets you build virtual objects around the sensed markers.

  9. I vote for the gypsies in the palace option. Jeremy already has the sound board down, and Kishore has his own intro bumper. What else would you need?

  10. I’d much rather have a new podcast with Jeremy and Kishore than a best of remix. Maybe Will could come on too.

Also Kishore got some bonus points in my book for the Starcraft discussion and for mentioning Day9.

  11. I’m pretty sure Jeff Goldblum would not be happy with the chimera testing . . . whether its flies or dinosaurs, this scenario never works out well.

In the great Ant War, is the Pot of Boiling Water the nuclear equivalent?

Ah, Ahmed the Clock Boy. I’m not sure why suing the school board to get money isn’t considered a “money grab” just because he might not be getting a whole lot of money. I mean, if I rob a bank but only take a few thousand instead of walking off with several million, does that make it not a robbery? I’m looking forward to the unsealing of the documents in court – so many public figures made judgments without any actual facts/evidence. If it turns out that Ahmed is a jerk that acted inappropriately towards both teachers and police officers when questioned, will the many folks who championed his “cause” issue apologies to the teachers, school board, and police force? Will his open invitation to Adam’s Cave be rescinded? Inquiring minds want to know.
