Podcast - This Is Only a Test

Episode 7 – Saved by the Ustream – 4/15/2010

Sorry for the shitty audio quality this week, there was an accident with a time machine, three condoms, and our new podcasting mixer that resulted in stripping the audio from a FLV and editing that to make a podcast. This week, we talk about a ton of stuff that isn’t the iPad, answer reader questions, and eat pie.

  1. FYI, the little <> icon at the top-right of the editor lets you edit raw HTML. There are some restrictions on tags you can use (

    I don’t have a <> icon (Win7 on Chrome, Firefox or IE). http://i39.tinypic.com/mlo3gp.png

I can add raw HTML in the [insert] dropdown, is that it? Thanks.

  2. This weeks podcast was the perfect reason why more people need to tune in for the livestream. We had Will and Norm talking about tech, Will trying his best to keep Norm’s wondering attention, an audio disaster (again), lots of chat room questions answered and of course some dancing from Norm.

Overall, hugely entertaining and informative (if at the expense of Will’s sanity).

  3. Yes. The live version was AWESOME. I’m definitely going to make sure I’m there for more live sessions. Will and Norm rock.

Best moment was the visible rage of Will when he realized most of the podcast wasn’t being recorded.

His face as it happened couldn’t have been more perfect. First it was confusion, then denial, some rage and finally acceptance. It was mean to laugh but I couldn’t help it. It was made even more perfect by something similar happening last week.

  5. what the F is that clicking in the background? Someone tapping on their trackpad?

Seriously, get a quieter keyboard and mouse.

  6. ” I had a lot of rage yesterday. Apologies again for the shitty audio quality, but I figured it was probably better to have a podcast with bad quality than to have no podcast at all 🙂 “

Man, I slept while the live stream was going, but listening to the podcast today at work put into context yesterday’s message.

I was wondering while I was watching the Building A Pc Demystified video, is a high end graphics card that necessary? I bought an 8800 GT(s or x can’t remember) when that meant something and I still play games that look amazing. While I do have a quad core, I was still wondering if that 1500 price point could have easily been 1100 ish? I haven’t seen any new games that justify a new card.

  7. You guys should “borrow” the GiantBomb guys’ Podcast equipment. It’s a fun show, but really it’s hard to listen to when it sounds like you’re screaming through a megaphone.
