Podcast - This Is Only a Test
Episode 23 – It’s Just Like Solomon – 8/11/2010
Will, Norm, and Gary have another fabulous conversation, where they run down the latest rumors about the next AppleTV, the brand-new Droid 2, why Will’s avoiding the Dell Streak, the current feeling about Microsoft’s Kinect, and a whole lot more. Also, we talk about crazy liquids.

HypoXenophobia just commented on your Blog: “This is why I hate PCs…”.
“I agree with Twizzle, there’s no way any rational person would throw down a large quantity of money without any sense of “research”. I don’t really see what a monitor has to do with breaking a game, I’ve thrown a CRT, LCD, and HDTV at my pc, nothing stops it from displaying. I bought an 8800 GTS or X can’t remember, still displays games in the high settings. If you’re that concern, get that card, it should be cheap and will run any “2006” at max easily. But back to the main point, there’s no reason to complain at what is clearly user error.”

Its pretty bitching Gary seems to becoming more of a regular. Any chance for a permanent place is for him in the Tested.com/whisky media home?
Sad Kitten Cupcake!!
Please Please Please post the entire video of Gary’s PC build as I will not be able to watch it live.
great podcast fellas.
Agreed, I won’t be able to watch it live, but I want to see the build so bad! Record it!
I have to admit that I am one of those guys who knocks touch screen keyboards but hasn’t had tons of experience with them, outside of the occasional messings with on friends phones. Maybe when I upgrade to a droid I will end up finding them enjoyable, but since I’m waiting for a decent AT&T droid phone that may be a while yet XD
Great bit on finance reform, Will. You mirror my own opinions. That said, being defeatist doesn’t help anyone. The people who KNOW need to state their displeasure and educate others, so the word is spread. Otherwise 95% of the population has no clue until its too late.
Before Gary, This is Only a Test was a great podcast, but now with his addition, I feel as though it has blossomed into its full potential. His permanent presence would be greatly appreciated. Also, I’m loving the Liquid news.
Count me with the people who want Gary Whitta to at least be as semi-regular as he has been recently.
“And then I look at some dude who has his address tied to his ISP, and I pity them.” LOL. So true.
Hotmail is perfectly fine, though, and it has the added benefit (or con, depending on where you stand) of it not being automatically connected to Google’s worryingly large network of services.
I’ve actually switched over Gmail as a client, from Windows Live Mail/Hotmail, and am now forwarding my mail over via POP3. It’s not a fantastically elegant solution, but it works well enough. Besides, I want to be able to access all my mail from one account, and Gmail allows that. Additionally, and most importantly, when I’m being forced to use some shitty Pentium II backwater computer from the 90s at a library or my workplace, Hotmail runs a lot slower in a browser than Gmail does.
regarding liquid pencil thingie: Inking is mostly done with nib pens, not ball points. If not, inking is done with a stick-like brush dipped in ink in an inkwell.
I don’t know if it’s possible, but if the graphite is actually liquid, you could use it in nib pens? If so, Inking would be way less nerve wracking, cause right now (if you ink with natural media, most ink in photoshop these days to be honest) if you fuck up while inking, you’re basically fucked and need to start over. With liquid graphite you could just erase it and go again.
Not sure how dark liquid graphite is, though. Inking requires VERY black ink.
