Podcast - This Is Only a Test

Episode 28 – The Tangent Has a Tangent – 9/16/2010

This week features a rousing discussion on the relative merits of Rez, the iPad 4.2 Beta, the differences between Intel’s Sandy Bridge and AMD’s Fusion, the Internet Explorer 9 beta, our first test flights with the AR QuadraCopter, and the upcoming/out now Twitter.com redesign.

  1. MAGZine just replied to your comment:

I fail to see what is still revolutionary about the iPad. It has a custom processor, it runs a blown up version of the iPad OS, and it brought the iTunes feature to the iPad. Perhaps a more specialized media-device will come to the iPad, but with the advent of the Courier, the Slate, the JooJoo pad, the Archos series and the rest you see on Engadget, I don’t see where the iPad is going to reinvent anything. Perhaps a big-name companies other than Asus, HP, Microsoft and others will decide to jump in because they see that Apple is making money off of the iPad, but since there are (and have been) Android Tablets, I don’t really see how the iPad is going to shake things up dramatically.

Is there something I’m overlooking about the iPad that is going to make it’s magic spread to other devices?

  2. I think Gary came up with a new segment for Tested: “Show Us the First Page of Your Smartphone”. Of course, for subscribers only. MWHAHAHAHAHA!

  3. I think Will should apologise to England for thinking Monty Python came from New Zealand! Thank God Gary was there to correct Will or I would of lost my mind.

  4. Just a heads up about the whole paying for machinima thing… Rooster Teeth does that for a living. The first five seasons of Red vs. Blue is 44.99 US.
So yes. People will pay relatively good money for machinima…. (Halo 1 at that)

  5. This is officially my new favorite podcast. Really like the varying guests and stuff here. Good times.

btw. I like the idea for your iWatch thing. Seems awesome. If apple doesn’t go for this, they’re crazy. It’s their chance to sell iPods AND iPhones. right now, the iPod is dead for people who already have an iPhone, which is pretty much everyone.
