  1. FakePlasticTree just replied to your comment:

” Last week I finally got fed up with my 3GS and ordered a Nexus One. Fed up how you say? It was less to do with the hardware though I noticed that it was really flakey with calls (I have a Blackberry 9000 through work and both are on the same carrier and it doesn’t have these problems). No my issue was with the OS and Apple in general. I don’t like walled gardens and I don’t appreciate the lack of control over the handset. Once Google announced the Rogers (AT&T) compatible handset I was sold.
My thoughts so far? It’s not perfect but I like it a lot more then I ever did either of my iPhones (3G and 3GS). A better media player would be nice and the on-screen keyboard takes some getting used to but at this point I’m sorta grasping for issues. To be fair I’m not using the stock homescreen anymore but opted to purchase Slide Screen ( which I highly recommend) but despite that I found Launcher > iPhone’s Home in usability and info display. So yeah my recommendation is that if you’re on the fence you probably  won’t be disappointed with the switch. “

Is the 3GS still terrible? I have a 2G iPhone and honestly, as a phone, it’s one of the worst I’ve ever had. Granted I jailbroke and unlocked it as Rogers wasn’t support the iPhone at that time. Hell the shitty Nokia I had way back in high school had better reception and call quality than my 2G iPhone. I’m on a Curve 8900 right now but I’m not big on it anymore. I’m just tired of the Blackberry OS. It’s an excellent phone, great quality and reception, but the OS feels antiquated. I was thinking of going back to the iPhone (which will probably be the 4G model by the time my contract expires) but I haven’t heard if the actual phone part has gotten any better since the 2G days.

  2. It’s a little better but it’s still the same iPhone experience but with a COMPASS.
The call quality is horrible. I don’t make a lot of calls on my 3GS but I’ve had it cut out numerous times for no reason. At one point I had to call the person back on my Bold.
I’d wait and see what the announcement is going to be later this week but I can’t imagine it’s going to be anything ground breaking. oooh multi-tasking! Gasp! Every other smart phone does that already.

  3. Kristen rules.

And for a pilot’s perspective on the stupid shit non-pilots believe about flying (e.g., “the planes land themselves”) try this:

  4. Oh my god, another cast and this time with Whitta. Yay for CESPoolcasts, it’s like I’ve died and gone to heaven!

Any more hard to understand, tangential Normtales again this time?

    Edits:
    – Gary’s insistence on using phrases like “dope” and “pimp suit” amuses me greatly. Must be the accent.
    – IMAGINE A WORLD!

  5. I love you guys, but this was borderline unlistenable.

Gotta cut down on the crosstalk and/or alcohol.

    10000% agreed

  6. I love you guys, but this was borderline unlistenable.

Yeah, I hate to quit the stream last night for that and the meandering discussion. Love you guys, happy that you’re having a great time, impressed by your hotel room. But take some tips from Ryan on how to keep a rowdy crowd on topic and coherent, please.

  7. A marked improvement over last night’s podcast. God bless you, Ana, for keeping things on track.

Edit: OMG, I am in fits of laughter over Gary’s passion for the unbastardised Star Wars original trilogy. 😀
