  1. david just replied to your comment:

” Toronto Canada, at least for the next couple months.”

I live in Toronto for approximately half the year.  The other half I spend living in Waterloo, which is also in Ontario.

  2. So excited for this.  I know i’m not buying one (I can’t when I know retina display may be coming) , but i want to soak up all the iPad 2 info I can.

  3. For some reason, Will talking about getting a hybrid to save money on gas stuck with me this podcast. I just watched a Cnet review of 2011 Toyota Highlander, and they talked about the money you save on gas versus the premium you pay for its hybrid version. Well, it goes something like this: the hybrid version costs $6,650 more than the V6 gas version. The hybrid’s mileage is 28 city/28 highway, and the V6 one is 17 city/22 highway. Assuming you pay $3.25 a gallon for gas and drive 15,000 miles a year, you would earn back that money in 12.7 years. So basically a hybrid is for feeling good, not saving money. I added that last part, not Cnet, though they should have.

  4. is my new favourite ‘This is only a Test’ participant. Sorry Ana.
The Stupid Canadian questions should be live streamed with /chat enabled.

  5. ugh  $829 is the top end iPad, not $929.

Has anyone else noticed how many facts Norm has been getting wrong lately? What is he doing? Is Will feeding him misleading info? Is he drinking weird coffee?

  6.  You do realize that the Clinton Global Initiative exists, Davos exists and Jackson Hole exists?  We already have a bunch of conference for a bunch of smart and rich people to get togetherto bascially try to impress one another.

  7. Even without Ana or Gary (sad face), we have Matt (yay), and this episode was much more entertaining than last weeks.

I also must admit, I like Will’s singing.

  8. Thanks dudes. Even if it’s a little difficult via Skype sometimes, I love guesting on these. 🙂

  9. Hey guys, space is cool, but the ocean is the real next frontier, a vast and unknown space that makes up a majority of the planet.

So please, can we have some more ocean talk?

  10. Norm continues his streaks of misinformation

1.2 ghz dual core. False. its 1ghz.
    iPad pricing. False
256mb ram. False. Got denied by and apple represntive at the press conference, after the rumour came up.
he couldnt say how much memory it had, but i wasnt 256. Stop believing gizmodo.

    Rumours are rumors.

I get more information watching a fox broadcast, damn.

Also Will, dunno if you are getting a ipad 2, but the mirroring off dashboard/apps wont work with the ipad 1. Just video in the ipad 1. Says so on apple specc sheet.

  11. Also Will, ofcourse developers will write apps for the ipad 1, other generation of iphones etc.

But as it is now. Developers makes one app for iphone, and if you launch that app from and iphone 4, the quality improves. While if you use a iphone 3gs or some other device, the quality is scaled down. My english is quite bad but i think you know what i mean.

I think we will see many ipad 2 specific apps but also work on the pad 1. Also apple is expected to ship 40m ipad 2. So developers who wants to make specific apps for the ipad, should in long term focus more on the ipad 2, then 1.

Say infinity blade 2, the base version is made for the ipad 1, but the app can easily recognize what device you have, and pick another version with updated graphics. Many many developers are doing that already.

Like for example plants vs zombies on the iphone.

    also i love how  certain u were the 64gb 3g was 930 😛

  12. Will you’re such a killjoy sometimes. The white iPad totally complements the design, who cares if you see the frame in the dark, at least you know where to grip it. Facetime could not be better suited to the tablet form factor. You’re sitting your couch surfing the net at night and get a video call from a friend on the other side of the world when they’re having their morning coffee… come on, that’s sweet! Felt so compelled to rant cause those are two big plus’s which make me want to upgrade, felt without Garry we were getting misrepresented
    ; )

  13. And Norm that wasnt how it happend at all. Stop reading Gizmodo.

The pr manager said, NO it isnt 256mb, but we cant comment on how much it is. God Damn.

Also ofcourse its not getting a retina display, if you a fain clue on how scaling works, they would have to double the resolution.

Do you know how much power it costs to drive such a screen? How much battery you loose. And do you really think its possible to mass produce those displays? Hell even Samsung cant produce enough of their amoled displays and had to revert back to LCD. We will see resolutuion bump in the future but it wont happen soon. People are just stupid to believe so. The cost, power drawn from the screen, the power it takes to drive it in that res is so much that you would have 2 hours of battery.

Come an Norm. Believe every rumour out there.

Also, last point, remember how Steve said ipad 2 will dominate the year of 2011. There will not be an ipad 3 this year norm. I cant believe you are so gullible to believe all this rumours. You are journalist arent you.

  14. ‘s comment about always feeling like android is one more version away from being totally awesome just slammed into me like a truck. I’ve been going back & forth between a xoom or ipad 2, now my mind is made up

For the past year I’ve been hearing how all kinds of deserts are going to kick ios’s arse and it’s just all bullshit. Gingerbread’s been out for what a few weeks and we’re already looking forward to ice cream?

It’s like those that always say Liverpool FC are always going to win the title ‘next year’
    (football reference there)

ios works now and works damned well, I’m getting an ipad 2

  15. YAY! My question made it. I bit the bullet and bought a OWC 240gb SSD. I already have the optical bay bracket to stick another hard drive in and will use that for the SSD and put my WD 1tb drive in the stock HDD bay. As soon as I get the keyboard backlight fixed I’ll install my new SSD. Can’t wait and thanks for the tips guys! The OWC bracket is made extremely well, highly recommend it if you want t go that route.

Oh, and I’d love to move but I have a good job and moving to find another one isn’t in the cards. :/
