” Where did you get this PC? Your processor is weird, I can’t find its specs anywhere. Go to My computer –> Properties –> Device Manager and see what it actually is. With the specs you’re telling us it sounds like it’s at least 3 years old. Also trying to play games on integrated graphics and have it not working = your own fault. Integrated graphics are meant to get a PC barely started up, and maybe browse the internet that’s about it.  Provide a budget so that we can know what to recommend.   You really should have done your research before buying a PC for gaming purposes; you didn’t even know your GPU was integrated. You probably also don’t even know if the processor you’re upgrading to is compatible with your mobo or not, or if it’s even better than your current one. “

I got it at Best Buy.  Specs:  6gb of RAM 1TB Processor AMD Athlon II x4 630 Processor 2.80GHz Windows 7 Home Premium  NVIDIA GeForce 9100  I don’t know very much about PCs, and I didn’t have much time to research because it was a quick thing, my computer broke down on a Saturday morning and by the end of Saturday I had a new PC, I’m an idiot, I told the guy at Best Buy I wanted to play games from around 2006 and this piece of shit can’t even run Psychonauts, it was partially his fault, the fucker should’ve known I’d be getting an HD monitor in the first place, second of all, I didn’t fucking mean play games from 2005-6 in lowest settings! He fucked me over! I should’ve gotten one with a NVIDIA GTS model GPU and AMD Athlon 64 x2 5000 processor but nope, I was too fucking stupid. “

    There’s no such thing as a 1TB processor >.>

Let me give you a tip, if you’re planning on playing games at high settings, don’t buy dodgy 3 year old computers from Best Buy and learn what basic computer specs mean.

This is why I hate PC gamers, most of you are like this. Fuck off, seriously. “

You bought a PC with zero knowledge about what you should be looking for, and then you complain about how  much of a hassle PC gaming is when your games don’t work on a 3 year old integrated GPU. It’s pretty much like you walked into a store and bought a PSP, and then you’re all surprised when Bayonetta doesn’t work on it and complain how much of a hassle console gaming is. You fuck off.  “

He already said his old PC broke so he didn’t have time to do any research and it’s not like everyone knows everything about PC hardware.  Plus the clerk at Best Buy didn’t really help. If he gets a good Graphics card his pc would be pretty damn good.   Also Emandude check if your OS is Windows 7 64 bit, I mean it should be but it’s just that if it was 32 bit it wouldn’t recognise all your 6GB of RAM. “

Those specs are not all that different than the PC in MaximumPC’s February issue, except for the Graphics card of course.

  2. Cool I need to listen to the start of this because I missed about half and hour while I was out on my run. I hope this podcast spawn’s some fascist Will photoshop’s, Gary retweeted a fairly good one.

  3. The word Moribund cannot be said without making me think of Knowing Me, Knowing You with Alan Partridge.

  4. Now I’m not trying to sound an asshole, or be overly critical of this podcast which I absolutely love listening to, but I will say that I preferred this weeks “news upfront” version when compared with the previous week.

I also loved listening to Norm and Gary chide Will for his official tangent ruling, but someone has to take control damn it! (this is not meant to be taken as an angry shout).
  5. I get Norm and Gary’s points, about good tangents often resulting from natural conversation, but I think that Will’s right that if you have a show mostly full of digressions and in-jokes you are going to turn off new listeners.  I think that to take the attitude that a person who can’t make it through thirty minutes of off-topic banter (specifically at the beginning) doesn’t deserve to hear the rest of a podcast is very foolish. Personally, I feel that it’s expecting too much when most of us are living in a time-poor existence.

It’s a really slippery slope and can turn a podcast from amusingly irreverent to irritatingly self-involved and unlistenable. I’ve seen (heard?) this happening before, and a symptom of this is a podcast that runs longer than it should. Ignoring a couple of instances, I don’t think you guys have crossed the line yet, but I think Will has good reason to be cautious. And I say all this as someone who loves the banter, loves the site and has been a visitor from almost day one, but there needs to be a balance.
  6. Wow.  Norm’s impression of my forum post.  Ouch.  If I were more naive, I would say Norm wants a flame war.

  7. My problem with Norm’s cereal method is how much longer it takes to prepare than the simple “pour stuff in bowl” method used for normal ass cereal making.

  8. More Tangents please and Don’t try and control the Tangents, let them flow naturally.

I love the tangents. I have a vague interest in technology, but I look forward to this podcast over the Bombcast, because of the unique perspectives of WIll, Gary and norm.

  9. Probably a skewed opinion since I’m not a new listener, but last week’s tangent podcast was the best one yet IMO. Would much rather not have Will try to direct the conversation and let the tech come in when it may; if I care about actual news then I can look at the site, if I want people to talk I can only get that from the podcast.

  10. Norm: “I have a court order, I can’t leave the state.. so I’m stuck in California.”

    wait… what?

Yeah what the hell, I need the story behind this. This makes Norm WAY more mysterious.

  11. Oh and if Will reads this: I appreciate you reigning in some of the tangent stuff, but remember that like Giantbomb, Tested’s main draw is the personalities. The internet is full of tech news sites, but only one site has Will, Norm and Gary (and sometimes Ana). We love listening to you guys talk about random shit off the cuff.

  12. I enjoy the both the tangent filled and the structured podcasts. What I _really_ want is a solo podcast of Will talking about his childhood. We’ll call it ‘Uncle Will’s Old Timey Story Hour’.
